Hi,
my 3xgt/grandmother had 17 children with only five surviving how would it be possible for me to find all these babies,taking into account that the name was "SMITH".I know they were all born in salford,would i stand a chance?....."E"

Very unlikely I would think. How do you know she had all these children -I imagine it is way back if she is your 3x grandmother?

Hi janet,
well my jaw dropped when i saw it on 1911 census.she married 1875...so i would say she may well have been pregnant for probably twenty years give or take a few......"E"

she died 1931 age 76yrs old......what a women "hey"

hello Wayne/tracey. and jacqueline.
sarah ann walsh married william smith 1875.He is father to all babes.All born and lived in salford.their surviving children are..Ann 1879...Henry 1876....Ernest 1883....Edith 1887...Selina 1889 and Elizabeth f 1900.Henry died in his twentys.
sarah's parent's were margaret and edward walsh....(names just for reference)

I have just checked Lancs OPC for their births and found nothing sadly, however you ought to check Lancs OPC regularly, eventually they will be fully transcribed!!

If any of the children survived long enough to be baptised their details will eventually appear here...

Looking back at earlier censuses could give the names of some children who survived birth but died young.

I think the IGI site in the form shown by Sylvia is no longer available. A pity, because I found it very useful.

I believe that a lot of it was inaccurate, as it hadn't been confirmed, so LDS removed it altogether and only published those entries that could be verified.

However it does not seem that the records I posted above are there now


You can get the same information as Shirley said by going to, although it takes more searching and paying close attention to the place of baptism as William and Sarah Ann Smith are not unusual names!!
