Christine in Herts Report 1 Aug 2004 14:14

I started to try out this (seriously addictive!) hobby last February. I decided to aim at an ancestral chart for our sons. Through the generosity of a number of GC members and others in the wider genealogy and archiving e-community, I have made enormous progress to add to some in-family info which had already been passed to me. I have a full set of names for our sons' 16 gg-grandparents, 27 names or part-names out of the 32 ggg-grandparents, 37 names or part-names out of the 64 gggg-grandparents. I have names going back to the mid-16th century and an undated gx12-grandfather. All this in only 6 months! Some excursions into the side-branches have allowed me to update the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's record of my great-uncle's age and to get a good mental picture of my gx2-uncle who was a policeman in the mid-19th century. Other interesting details beckon. Many thanks to all on GC who've helped. Christine
