Joy Report 7 Jun 2011 21:33

Excellent news :)
If only Phil had been around previously ............ ;-) :-)

Please leave this here, Derek. Maybe you could put resolved in the title? and then Phil could lock it.

Well done Phil and the team

Derek I would leave the thread and just let it sink because like you say it is testament to the hard work Phil and the team have put in.

I have thanked Phil..and was, with great pleasure, about to delete this Thread..but on second thoughts I think I'll leave it around for a bit..as a Testimonial to Phil and GR technical support..who have really come up trumps this time.particularly asit seems the problem has been solved.

a very happy Derek

It is back!! And I've learnt a few things along the way, and fixed a small bug that made me think that we'd lost data. I have also learnt how to restore deleted threads, as well as how helpful it might be if we add a confirm dialog to the delete button. To Derek and all the posters on this thread, our apologies for any distress this has caused. Regards Phil

Thank you, Phil; I am sure that it can be found, anything once posted on the internet can be found again :)

Mine that were removed? they went a while ago, could not be found, glitches seemed to abound at that time.

Have already discussed this via PM with Derek, and we are actively investigating this. We will post details as soon as we can. Apologies to anyone who has been using Derek's support via this thread (or any other missing threads)
Regards Phil

"I'm making a major issue of it because GR should be making sure it doesn't happen.." - good.
There has to be a way for genes reunited staff to find it.

Derek

Derek Report 6 Jun 2011 13:08

Good morning all..I have had a reply from GR Support..saying that they did not remove my Thread..have sent them back an email in which I have suggested that since so many Threads do disappear into thin air, that "We were not responsible....." is not an answer.
There has to be some physical act that removes these Threads,,and GR would do well to investigate the actual process by which deletion occurs..I know we can delete our own Threads..but not by mistake,,,(unless you're a compete idiot)..but as far as I'm aware it cannot be done by other people either as a mistake or for some weird deliberate act of vandalism.
I'm making a major issue of it because GR should be making sure it doesn't happen..

end of rant!!

Ah I see where Kemp is coming from now, I couldn't work out how you had been rude. Kemp appears to have misunderstood what you said.

Derek

Derek Report 4 Jun 2011 23:10

Kempina..I think you misread my reply to you..no rudeness at all intended...Idiomatically it is correct..but probably better grammatically if I'd put "If....in front of "you ask"....................there was no suggestion that YOU ask..............

Derek.

Thanks everybody..just to explain things......on the Recently deceased Records Office Board I had my "Derbyshire Records Office"..and everybody appears to love it...........about a year or so ago it went ZAP........completo disappearo..no reason..no explanation..and thanks to all you lovely people the regenerated Thread....now on the "Find Ancestors" Board..has again reached 1700 plus..............in the meantime on the old "TIPS" Boards i started a "Who are we looking for in Derbyshire" Thread.........this is is the thats gone to Heaven or hell or wherever....with 1900 plus hits....
I can always re-start it from scratch..but there was a huge ream of work on it that has now gone....probably forever..unless Phil..who kindly contacted me on here, can do something about it.

In any case..thanks to you all xxx.Has anyone ever known me to be rude or abusive??

Derek.

Derek Report 4 Jun 2011 22:56

Rambling

Rambling Report 4 Jun 2011 14:22
