Regarding the slow delivery of the adverts, I have raised my concerns before about this, but will raise them again today with our adverts agency.

Regarding the Ancestry adverts. I will raise this issue with the agency that deals with our Australian adverts.

Regarding the blocked ISP, Gai, I have sent a PM requesting additional information. As far as I know we don't block any ISPs, so I am trying to track down the cause of this issue. I am aware that a few members have mentioned this problem before so realise it's not just Gai suffering.

Thanks for the comments, and I'll try and update shortly.

Thanks Phil,

I have emailed you and so far only one has bounced back. Hope the others have come though OK.

Katie at GR was going to put my email address on the white list they have so I can send emails to GR but this hasn't happened.

In regards to the Ancestry ads I have sent the screen shots to Estelle.

Whatever the cause, the slowness of this site has become appalling and it is time that Bright Solid spent some money on making it more efficient.

Why are some adverts running higher on the page than others?

The Halifax advert top edge is higher than the white box on right hand side of page - which has the Add to Favourites and Read GR Blog

Lexus, Orange, Radisson, Scotrail and Manchester Airport adverts are lower and seems to cut off the bottom of the ad.

In fact the only one that seems okay is the Halifax advert

Hi Gai, the Ancestry ads should have been removed at the end of last week. Could you please let me know if you still see them? Thanks.

HI Estelle,

I'll let you know when they reappear as I'm sure they will in the near future.

I have to say that I do not see many ads ...... just the constant ones for other sites in the brightsolid stable, that run across the top.

At the moment I am being invited to join Friends over Fifty ---- find thousands of genuine singles today :-0

That's alternating with Oranges and Sunshine, which has been there for months, and I still have little idea what that's all about!

I have AdBlocker permanently turned on ...... and it works beautifully!

i guess this means that I am only seeing ads that GR itself is putting up.

Please, try AdBlocker those of you who are having problems with ads!

When the site has problems or an upgrade is happening would it be feasible and helpful to drop the adverts while the situation exists and to replace them with a message indicating that there is a problem or upgrade in progress.

I had a problem with the ads a while back.

When I was looking for matching names, the ads covered the right-hand side of the list, couldn't see who "owned" the name.

Contacted GR, got the usualy blah blah........ please tell us exactly what you were doing etc etc, I have tried that with your tree and don't get the same problem, blah blah...... it went on for a few weeks, then stopped.

Don't tell the sponsors, but I never look at the ads :-)

Certain that the adverts are again causing problems on this site.

If when I login to this site the homepage takes for ever to load but if I get across the bottom of the screen some message that mentions "mookie" then this site freezes

GB - Adverts.. what adverts? Try running Adblocker - it's available for various different browsers - I've been running it with Firefox for ages and I never see any ads these days. Wonderful! And it's free - just google it.
