I'm getting really fed up now!!

Typed my post, clicked on send, and got nothing. Forgot to copy it before sending, so I'll make sure to copy it this time :-| :-| :-|

Once again, a reply from GR........ it's MY fault

" I am sorry our last fix didn't work. The problem is that our site is timing out when you log in due to the amount of data it has to load. I can see you have many contacts and a large tree. Each time you sign in to the site we are trying to load, and refresh, the contacts and your Hot Matches. These are what is causing the site to time out. "

Yes - I have many contacts (I didn't know there was a limit) :-|
Yes - I have a large tree (many trees on GR bigger than mine)

Isn't that what it's about? Making contacts and building a tree?

Hot Matches? I last received a list of Hotmatches 5 December 2011. One contact, one name. A "Brand New Member" the list said........... so I sent a message, which hasn't been opened yet. Maybe the Brand New Member can't get on site?

I tried to delete the "rejected" hotmatches. Couldn't do it...... and kept getting Error Messages.

And the usual.......... took me at least 5 minutes to get on site, constant Error Messages. :-P :-P :-P :-P

Hi everyone, we are sorry that some of you had problems accessing and using the site at the weekend. These problems have now been resolved and the majority of you should be able to sign in as usual. We are aware that a minority of members are having continual problems accessing Genes. This is something that Phil and the rest of the team have been working on. Phil did make some changes last week, which has helped. He hopes to roll out more improvements laster on this week.

Had a response this afternoon from the support team after I e mailed them on Saturday.
Just a standard "we are aware of the problem & are working on it. Thank you for your patience"

Doesn´t help in the least as they´ve been aware of problems on the site for months, but at least it shows they have read my e mail.

Error experienced with messages and with boards and with my threads.

Last week I had steam coming out of my ears with the frustrations on this site.
Today there's a strong smell of fire and brimstone !! :-P

Earlier today I must have seen the Error Message at least twenty times. I gave up in disgust.

Ten minutes ago I started trying to get on to GR. Error Message after Error Message. Clicking on the GR Logo only gets another Error Message.

Clicked on community......... Error Message over and over and over. Go back.......... and out of GR completely. Got back to main page, tried Refreshing...... and guess what came up? Error Message.

I'll copy this message before I submit it........ in case I get another Error Message and the message disappears........... again!

it has been working well for me for the last little while (everything crossed that it continues!)



lots of people post their complaints over there .......... because a) they almost always get a response from GR, and b) more people will also post with the same error than you get on here.


There are so many people on this site who almost never wander off Chat, or another Board, but who are on FB ... and they suddenly realise they've been suffering in silence, thinking it is their computer or browser that is at fault!

Came back to this thread - click on page 19 and entered up on FAQs

I only joined FB to see what GR are posting over on that site and a lot of comments concerning error messages on this site.

I spoke too soon!



Re-entered GR about 15 minutes ago (as posted above) .... no problem.

Opened Suggestions .... no problem.

Read new posts on one thread, submitted new post ...... no problem.

Opened a new thread, wrote and submitted a post ..... ERROR after ERROR after ERROR.

Left the thread, and tried to re-open it ....ERROR.

Tried to open another thread ........ ERROR.

Left the Board, and tried to re-enter .... ERROR.

Tried to open Find Ancestors ...... ERROR


Tried to re-enter Suggestions after about 10 minutes ..... success

Opened the thread, found the second of the 3 attempts to post a message had succeeded, but not either of the other 2.

Wrote and submitted another post to that same thread ....... success

opened this thread again ...... success


This is crazy!!

Why do I bother with this site ?

Click on a board - error message
Click on this thread - error message
Get stuck on error message only get away from it but hitting refresh
Click on this thread - error message
Get on this thread and click on page 19 - error message

Etc, Etc, Etc all within the last 5 minutes

Need I say any more - at least 6 error messages in a couple of minutes

I got on the site with no problems ......... TWICE


Got the Error message twice when opening My Threads .......... then 3rd time lucky.

Haven't yet tried this time to open My Threads :-)
