Would it be possible to do a grouping on contributers to ascertain their lines of enquiry?

but all contributers to these boards are just members of GR, like yourself.

There are no contributors in the sens of people being paid, or working only in certain areas.

............. and you have the ability to put your interests along the bottom of all your postigns, if you so desire.

Just go to My Account, scroll down and there is a box Research Interests and Activities.

But speaking for myself, as a helper .............. I do it because I love the searching, I'm not the slightest bit interested in one area, or one name.

There are one or two members who have special interests, or access to special records, cds, etc ......... and they post threads on those interests. For example, Derek with his Derbyshire, Magaret with Oxfordshire

The rest of us help others for the love of it, sometimes just for something to do, sometimes because something has piqued our interest. Sometimes just because it is diffcult, and a challenge.

If you are thinking in terms of having a list so that you can direct your question to a certain person ........ then these boards do not work that way.

You asks your questions, and whoever gets there first, and thinks they have the expertise, starts to work on the question. Then others come along, and people all work together to try to sort it out!

If you want that type of site go to ROOTSCHAT - it is free to join and it set out by Subject.

Many of us GR'rs are there as Rootschatters.

This site encompasses many interests, but for a more specialised thread Rootschat is a must.

On there there are No trees, and you will find that in some of the interests such as WW1 & WW2 the contributors are only interested in History and not genealogy, which means that you can get some very good answers.

Most contributors do not follow one line of enquiry. You might start out looking for one person but that can quickly morph into a completely different family or the best way to cook apple pie.

Neat pigeonholing does not happen on GR. If your query is interesting enough, or as has been previously mentioned someone believes they might have an answer, people will reply on your thread.
