Lesley
I suspect thta this is due to the rebuiding of the Indexes referred to in Phil's anouncement on 6th December.
I have also noticed some strange behaviour over the last few few days that included whole tranches of posts diappearing and then an hour or two later reappearing.
Karen said that they were also making Server changes whilst they were testing and advised us to refresh our browsers if we encountered connection problems.

I can't say if these are truly the reasons but I do know of another genealogy website that refreshes all its data once every 4 weeks as a background process and that takes, on average 4 to 5 days to complete

Ken

I believe the GR servers were moved earlier this year, and are now in Scotland.

Some of the problems pre the latest lot, were caused by the change of servers

I don't know where the GR servers are but in SE UK the weather is still unseasonably warm and we haven't had any appreciable rain for days.

Just tried to get on again and got the dreaded error message. So, is the weather still bad over there? Or can I blame it on GR?

IS GENES REUNITED GOING INTO MELT DOWN ?/?
Used to be an ok site, but the last 6 months has gone from bad to worse.
The freeby sites function better than than this one.
Anyway i have had it with Genes Reunited
And will never use this site again
I also intend to remove all the data i have done over the last 2 years from this site

It's the same for me Margee. I have to try to log on to this site several times before the "Sorry an error has occurred" message stops appearing and the site finally appears. And as for slow............I've never known anything like it!!

I'm wondering if Genes Reunited has changed its name to "Sorry an error has occured"? That's what I end up with every time I try to access Genes.

And the slowness is seeping in again.
