Rollo, to answer your question, because it is what they are 'used to', I LIKE IE8, I could use chrome where everything is hunky dory...but I don't like it.

Same reasoning as people buy cars that don't have all mod cons, they are used to driving 'old faithful' whose quirks they like.

I have my emoticons, but not my tree, I had both all through the beta test so if they could do it then why not now?

:-) :-D :-( :-0 :-| :-P :-\ ;-) <3 :-S :-S :-S

all present and correct.

Why on earth do people use Internet Explorer IE7, 8, 9 by choice ? It's not as if there were not free alternatives which actually support html5 properly. IE10 is ok. Genes have very limited resources and supporting the ultra quirkiness of IE it seems is a browser too far.

Some people tend to have 101 toolbars / add ons installed. It is always worth disabling / removing such if you have problems. Some of the most popular tool bars are pretty dubious and/or buggy.

I hate the new color scheme so I have given it the boot. Roll yr own, much better.
Other than the colors the new site is def. welcome progress at long last.

Mine isn't slow but when I use IE my emoticons are missing. They're there on Chrome so, hopefully, it will all resolve itself shortly.

The tree is really good - clear and easy to look at.

i give up.

My eyes are watering, can hardly see.

They may be fixing the bugs, but if I can't see anything, what's the point?

I feel this new layout has been very poorly researched. Anyone with visual problems of any kind will struggle to use it. In particular, those who have dyslexia or visuomotor problems will be particularly disadvantaged.

Its useless, very slow,no emoticons and so bright its giving me a headache, suggest you return to the previous layout as others are not happy with it. Hal. Oh, and it keeps on going off and on.
