Birthplaces and dates?

The tree is certainly sub-standard and isn't working properly.

I input my birth and end dates in the format "27Feb 1939" as that is the way I want dates to appear when I print out my tree as a gedcom. It has worked up to now but now when i input the date or tick the box to say it is an approx. date of birth, the changes do not automatically show up as saved. They appear to delete. However if I go to another person on my tree and then back again the correct 'unstored' information magically appears. Bizarre.

Another thing that has happened to me is a random person got 'stuck' on my screen and so when I changed the family I was viewing, that one person appeared continuously on the screen, alongside any other family member I was looking at.

Its unacceptable to make paying customers work with such shoddy a tree. 'Washed-out tree' as I call it should be retired and replaced by something more like old tree that was universally loved. If they brought old tree back and charged for the privilege I wouldn't mind at all. They could make it a more expensive option on a premier package and I'd still pay.

Other sites look soooo much more attractive to me these days.

There are two boxes
1/ year of birth
2/ date of birth
Leave 2 empty unless you can enter a full date in the format 01/01/1911

Try entering it as full digits

eg, 01/02/1946

if you don't have the correct full date then try entering only birth year,

or putting a tick in the box marked "tick if unsure" then leave the actual dob empty

Many thanks for your help regarding Shrivenham Berkshire. If I do have a birthdate for example 2/1946 and I put that birthdate on it gets deleted.

I know that we all get different problems with the tree.
I have just entered Shrivenham Berkshire in my test tree and it was accepted.
I entered a birthdate as 9 sep 1947 and it was accepted.
I know that I can do things in my test tree that I cannot do in my main tree.
Nothing makes sense!

Although Shrivenham was in Berkshire the northern part of Berkshire transferred to Oxfordshire in 1974 with the boundery changes-I also have a problem with this :-)

If our relatives were born before 1974 in the northern part of Berkshire it WAS Berkshire and all the records relate to Berkshire eg Wills etc

Yes I am clicking on Save at the bottom of the panel. Have to keep clicking on it to try and keep the birthplaces and date of births but no matter how many times I have to click on Save it still get deleted. They seem to want me to put in what they wants me to put but some of the places for example: If I put in Shrivenham Berkshire they want me to put Shrivenham in Oxfordshire even though I know it is in Berkshire. I already know about the zoom level.

Thanks

Are you clicking on Save? at the bottom of the details panel ?

For members who cannot see the bottom of either the Details panel or the tree Dashboard then try adjusting you browser zoom level, (you will need to zoom out)

to adjust your zoom level either use your Ctrl key plus the + and - key to zoom in and out or view, then zoom and select the level required i find that zoom level 75% works for me but you will need to adjust according to your individual browser and screen size

What a waste of time doing thiis new tree as I have found that when I put in the names of the birth places and dates of birth of the people on my tree it gets deleted - why is that?
