GR Development Team,

I am of the opinion that what appears to be causing so much disention amongst the ranks expressed here and on the other message boards is that you appear to be trying to do too many things at the same time. New Tree, New Layout, New Homepge ect.

Might I suggest that it would be better for all concerned if you did one thing at a time, thoroughly check that it works and is generally considered to be an improvement, run a beta version to fully test the new version and only when that is satisfactorily completed without flaw, release it generally. Such a procedure might have avoided the howls of anguish and the embarrassment of having to temporally reinstate the old tree recently. In other words as the post title says, Do one thing-Do it Well-Then move on.

I am not so naive as to think that it is possible to satisfy 100% of the people 100% of the time but I do believe that you might satisfy more rather than fewer if you concentrated your efforts on one project at a time.

As things stand the message boards are full of Vitriol aimed at GR and even at other GR members whose views differ from one another. Not only an unhappy situation but not a good advert.

I thought that when they had to reinstate the Old tree last year that the tree was the only thing they changed at that time. Admittedly they should have beta tested it.

This time they didn't reinstate the old tree but someone worked out how to access it and published the link. Genes should have deactivated that link when they removed the Old tree. It is possible that some of the problems users are having may have resulted from that improper access of the old tree.

At least they did beta test the latest changes and I do know they made changes from member's suggestions. I don't know if they selected a sufficient number of platinum members and members who actively update their trees though.

Hopefully from now on the changes will be less traumatic and fully tested before going live.
