Will you please answer the questions in my posting dated 31 December ?

Thank you

Hi Barry,

The new tree will not be introducing a new print feature. We are currently working on a new tree which will enable users to build more than one tree within the same account (and upload multiple GEDCOMs).

When will it be possible to print Trees ? It must be a year since the "Whoops cannot print your Tree " info came up when the Print button was used.
On the old Tree format, sections could be highlighted and printed. I did this on several sheets of A4 and put them together to form my complete Tree.

I found the old Tree easier to use and dislike the male and female heads. Pink and blue boxes were neater.

Because our Trees are social history it would be great to have space in each box to add the relatives occupation.

Why when you are searching names in your tree or others it is case sensitive to find people?

Hi BarryA,

Searching names shouldn't be case sensitive. If you are experiencing this please email [email protected]

Hi Willow,

We are aware that there are limitations on the size of tree which can be printed. The next version will not have full tree printing, but tree printing is a focus and will be revisited.

Since July last year I have been in fairly regular contact with the Support Team with a specific problem, when I add a Spouse to a Relation on my Tree, it is accepted an saved, if I then "Edit" to add the relevant marriage date and place, they too are apparently saved, but only for the remaining time I spend on-line for that session. Next time I open my Tree, go to the same couple, and open the details slider, the respective names of the spouses are shown, but the date and place has disappeared. Is this just my problem? or are there others on here with a similar one. I have tried running this Site on all three of my browsers, Internet Explorer, Firefox ans Chrome, but always get the same result.
I get replies from the Team to all my messages, always saying that my problem has been passed to their Tech personnel, but they are very busy on impending developments to the site, originally they told me these developments would appear in Auntumn last year, but I have yet to see anything significant. :-S

Can we have the capability to have more than one set of parents - i.e. for people who have been adopted. I would like to be able to to put on both the birth parents and the adoptive parents of a child.

Hi, I hope this is the right page. When you look at a message board, at the moment you have to open the message to read the contents even if it is not of use at the moment. Could you not open up 3 or 4 lines just by placing the pointer over the headline to read without opening the full message.

trying to add a sibling, only part of the "indexing card" shows itself, i am unable to "grab" the card and "push" it up the screen. i am unable to therefore click the button to upload the new information,.the only function that is available is the "X" at the top right corner of the "card" which enables me to cancel the info i had put in, the only way i can get out of the screen.... at this juncture i am only able to view the tree i have got and not add any people to it

John, I had a similar problem a while ago, I solved it by changing from a 19" widescreen monitor to a 19" square one, fortunately it was just a case of swapping over the monitors I was using.

Sounds a bit drastic...just so you can do something with your tree :-S

How about SURNAME BOARDS where we can all connect with those with the same name easily and latch on to trees that connect. Lets start the question with the person that we are interested in. This is what we are here for.

Surname boards - Isn't that what 'Surname Summary' is?

And are you advocating open trees?

Graham

Graham Report 20 Apr 2014 09:04

You can put the surname you are interested in into the quick search box. You'll then get a list of threads that feature that name.

Hi Gary,

Just to clarify, do you mean new community boards, one per surname? Or as nameslessone and Graham said, the Surname Finder tool which is available on Genes Reunited?

There was once a Surname Board where people could start a thread for a surname, eg

------------
Mason in Yorkshire

I'm looking for any connections to Mason in southern Yorkshire

------------

Anyone putting "Mason" in the Search facility would also be led to this thread as well as to any threads or posts on the other Boards.

It basically became useless ...............

............ threads were not alphabetical, so it was hard to follow the Board

-------- people couldn't find a surname, so started another thread ............ obviously they had not use the Search function

-------- threads moved quickly down the Board

.............. threads were raised that were 6 or 7 years old, members no longer on the site, etc.

The Board was removed in a re-vamping around 2010, if I remember correctly.
