I waited until my sub run out then it allowed me to put in the new details

Genes do not hold any scottish records you need scotlandspeople for those

You can change your credit card no. by going into your account - click on ACCOUNT, in small print just above RELATIVES at the top of this page.

You can't get into Scottish families because there aren't any on Genes. Most people with Scottish ancestry use Scotlandspeople, which is free to search and then you have to pay to view (I think).

Scotland's People is free to search...... but..

If you search for "John Smith born 1895 Auchenshoogle" you will get

eg: 547

No names.

1 credit to see 25 names

5 credits to buy a certificate

30 credits cost 7 pounds

I´ve found in the past that you can´t change your card details. You have to wait for Genes to tell you that your card is invalid, then they ask for the new details.
What a cock eyed way to run an account. :-S

Jax, I think I did what you did and changed the details when my sub was due. I have just tried to look at my account but it keeps saying it doesn't recognise my password, so I gave up!!

A few years ago GR automatically renewed my membership. That was way back when I didn't frequently check my account.

GR used the same credit card details as the previous year. I don't know how they did that, because that card had been cancelled!

I didn't get a message regarding an invalid card.

When you renew your membership ALWAYS check your GR account ~ because it defaults to automatic renewal.

From FAQ under subscriptions and renewals

Changing your payment card

If you want to use a different card for your auto-renewal payment, you can do so from two weeks before your renewal payment is due.
Here’s how you can change the card details.
• Select the option to renew your membership on your Genes Reunited homepage by clicking on 'subscribe'.
• Choose the membership package that you'd like.
• Click on the green box titled 'Subscribe'. This is to the right of the payment options list.
• If you are a Platinum subscriber you’ll see the Additional Features page where you can add other records to your package. Standard members won’t see this page.
• This will take you to the payment page. Please ignore the box at the top prompting you to enter your password.
• Go down to the next section and enter the new card details.
This will then be the card we’ll use for future payments.
