I once read the two families in Devon England - Agland and Acland are distant related , ?

I have been looking for months , but cannot find a connection , Hoping NEW EYES will find some-thing , please .

Are you sure it's not just a mis-spelling of the same family?

There's a tree on Ancestry with son's name Acland and father's name Agland.

Bearing in mind that the general population was illiterate, Margee's suggestion is more than likely.
Just say the two words aloud and you can understand how an educated person could spell them phonetically.

Spellings seem to settle down over time. If part of the family moved to the next town, they may have kept the spelling that their children were then taught at school.
