Hello Joan, do you want to give a couple of examples of what you're trying to find where the records just aren't turning up?

If we can then get any results we can explain where we found them and how we searched.

Using GR for research is not the best way to go about things........................

There are other sites............................

Take some time to find out about them.....................and read the advice threads on here

Are you also allowing for the 6 weeks to register a birth so it might be in the following quarter

The BMD gro indexes on here are for England and Wales

Although GR hold transcribed Scottish ER to 1901, it doesn't hold BMD. They are on Scotlandspeople.

If you are talking about the records on this site, try putting less info in

Name first and last and year of birth +/- 2 years...see if that helps

Perhaps if you put up a name with some information like year and place of birth, maiden name etc, someone else might be able to find her.
Sometimes all it needs is a new set of eyes looking.

Why, when you know the exact name,. date of birth, date of death. does it come up with no results found. Am I mistaken in my grandmother actually dying. Maybe she was just an alien abduction! This site is proving useless, every person I've looked for has never been on this planet, alive or dead. Just rubbish that keeps popping up including screen savers (not mine)
