help please to find someone in the 1891 census

I am trying to find Charles and Emma Gramone on the 1891 census, but having no luck.

I have a marriage for Charles Gramone to Emma Fletcher 10 Jul 1882 in Birmingham ( I have viewed the actual marriage cert on Ancestry). The person filling in the cert appears to have put an acute accent over the last e in Gramone both for Charles and his father. Charles signed his name without the accent.

I have tried out going passenger lists and nothing comes up.
Searching all types on FreeBMD there are just two entries :
John Charles Gramone born Birmingham 1883
Charles Gramone died Birmingham 1884 Age 1.

I think probably the name has been misspelt or wrongly transcribed. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Chris.

Very elusive aren't they. Do you have birth details, i.e. year and place, for Charles and Emma?

Hi Jan
I did think it sounded Italian and the silverer made me prick up my ears. I think as I said the 'foreign name pses difficulties as I suppose would the accent.

I can't find anything else to be honest - maybe somebody else will have more luck!
If I had to guess, i would wonder if they went to Italy?

Have you considered this? I can't see a baptism record for this birth unfortunately:

Births Mar 1885 (>99%)
Granone Charles Birmingham 6d 199

Hi Jan
Many thanks for your time . I do think the 1881 census is the Charles - Carlo Grimoni - I agrre with you. Using that spelling I could find on Free Bmd their wedding as we know was in 1882 Emma Fletcher and Charles Gramoni. If they did go to Italy it would have been much warmer!

Just clarifying - the 1885 birth is different to the 2 entries you put in your first posting.

It's been fun finding 'Carlo' but hasn't really helped other than that, dammit!
