Most of us would google to see what we can find.

Have you looked for local history societies in the area that could help you?

This is from the parish council;

We do not like people shouting at us. Some of us may be rather direct in approach, but we try not to be rude. We are not paid to help and expect common courtesy to be extended to all.

Well, just catching up on older threads and had been going to suggest a useful wiki but then read further down - Oh Dear!

David, do you realise that we're all volunteers on here and not employees of Genes Reunited. We use our own time and subs to help others so you're not exactly engendering any further assistance being offered - just as well your tree is "finished" (Oh really?).

You say "I DONT REGARD MYSELF PRO-ACTIVE" - very telling.
