I've found an ancestor on 1901 cenus living in some sort of institution in Ibstock/ ratby. The relationship to head of house is stated as 'inmate of ind school committed by magistrate'. Does anyone know if this is some sort of reform school or an orphanage? The boy is question was only 10 at the time and his father had died, i can't trace his mothers and sisters on the census Paula

Thanks so much Mike Can't find my Sarah in the 1851 census - she would have been about 32 then but there is plenty of info there and hopefully I'll be able to tie in one or two relations. I can find no trace of her son William after he's in the workhouse in 1851 until the 1881 census when he turned up at Great Bowden, Leics married and with several children. I've got his marriage cert which took place in the Registry Office at Stamford in 1877. Thanks for all your hard work. I'm very grateful Jenny

Greeting’s Again Jennifer…….. Here are all the Hudson’s for 1851. Rutland…….. Sorry to sound off putting…. But you know your Family history better than me You need to match the No.’s to get your family. It’s INDEX only I’m afraid but the full transcript Is still in the process of being done….. The 1861 Census for Rutland is again only in INDEX at this moment.. unless you can gain access to the whole British census through a site ?….. So If you can bear with me I’ll see what I can find… In a while I'll put up the Full Transcript of the 1891 returns for Great Bowden. (re Mary Chamberlain Head.) Not sure if you have seen it ? MIKE.
