Greeting's Again Paul....... Just a point have you a occupation for George H. ? Only I went back to the 1861. Census and found a George aged 30 and married to a Lyndia aged 34 ( which adds to your hunch he was married before ?) It stated he was a Master Coach Builder and employing 26 Men and 13 Boy's and living at 82, Rutland Street Leicester. Hence the question regarding his occupation ? Just had a look on 1837 site.... Found :- BIRTHS..... Oct/Nov Qrt. 1888. LOUISA MARY PARR. Leicester. Cert No. 7A 19 ? Sorry couldn't make out last number tried the free BMD but it was busy....grrrr MIKE.

Hi Mike I would like your opinion please one of my relations Joseph Masters born 1872 East Indies, married a Theresa Annie Emmerton 1894 new Port Pagnell. Theresa s birth said Theresa Ann Emmerton 1873 New Port Pagnell. I cant find her on census anywhere only 1901 when she was married to Joseph. I have though found an Annie Emmerton Born 1873 New port Pagnell do you think this could be her . Thanks Beverly

Hi Beverly, I had noticed that, but think that it looks wrong, when in fact is right. The last two are actually living in the same household, they are just transcribed onto the next page, which isn't made clear on Ancestry. I think (dare I say) they may sound worse than the Hincks!! You've done so much for me, thanks again. Sarah

Margaret Report 27 Nov 2004 17:13

Mike It has been suggested that you may be able to help me with a look up on the 1851 census for Hinkley. Ruth in Leicester has looked up the index and its folio page 277, the family of John Paul. I would be very grateful if you could look up the details. Thank you in advance Margaret

Beverly/Mike I just had to add this post following on from the others above. I have (bravely) just decided to come back to my Leics side and had a trawl through census records for some of Mary Smith from somewheres descendants. She had a son John, who married Mary Preston, they had two children in 1867 and 68. This wife died in 1872. In the 1881 census, John is declared as widowed, living with only one son and his dad (where the other is? Anyones business). 1891 John and his two kids are there, and there are two more kids, Rose b.1875, Edith b.1881- notably missing from the 1881 where John was a widower(? Who is the mother?) He now appears to have a new wife Mary. In 1901, his kids are missing, and there is a new child, a stepdaughter also named Rose (Goodman), b.1886 (who does she belong to??), she looks like she has a 5 year old son (mother at 14?) So, you said my family were confusing, what do you make of this?!!! AAARRGGGHH I am now going off to bang my head against a vacant wall, I didn't think I could beat the Hincks, but maybe I was wrong (LOL) Confused more than ever, and now abandoning my family and searching for a new one! Sarah

sarahjw03 Report 26 Nov 2004 20:50

Didnt you say that your Hincks were from Syston? Therefore you could be my missing link!!! Hadn't checked the IGI, normally one of the first things I do, but saw the name Smith and my heart sank!! Thanks for that, I have scrutinised old maps of Leicester and am more confused in deciding where to look! Am currently back on my London lot, a change is as good as a rest, don't they say? You never know, when I come back to this bit, I might find her instantly (well, one can always live in hopes!!) Sarah

Beverly Report 26 Nov 2004 10:28

Hi Sarah could eather be Heather and if you havnt already done so on the IGI records its got Mary Smiths Birth but no Parents only as being married to simon pick and it said birthplace of Syston. So i think youve got your work cut out on this one. Your family is complicated i havnt started on the hincks yet Beverly

sarahjw03 Report 25 Nov 2004 16:09

It could be I guess, but how can we possibly explain the other transcriptions Eather and Ftrier? Add this to the fact that she looks likely to be a Smith and I am well and truly annoyed! How could she have done that to me, had she no regard? Its bad enough that she didnt live in Barwell!! Joking aside, who knows? As the Leics side of my family seem to be such nightmares, I am once again trotting back to the other boards and looking for my London Sutherlands (like they are easier to find!). I shall return to my Mary Smith of wherever shortly! Thanks for helping, feel free to throw any suggestions in the ring, I need all the help I can get (and I surely must have permanently scarred Mike by now, just look at his previous post about wheelbarrows (?!!! LOL) ;-)) Sarah
