A few years ago I had correspondence with a distant Cousin, Andrew Greville Allchin, living in Bideford in Devon. Recently I tried to renew contact only to learn that he died a few years ago, and left his research to an Archive. Apparently he traced the Allchin family back to the Battle of Agincourt, but I can't find which archive he left it to. May I please plead with all you Devonians to ask at all the Archives you visit whether they hold this bequest, and let me know. Thanks ever so much, Jim

Hello, I am trying to find George and Mary Cook(e) in the 1861 census, so far without success. I know they were living in Burrington, South Molton in 1856 when their son John was born. I'm trying to find out when and where they married, so I'm hoping that the 1861 census will show them with all their children and so give me a clue. My other Devon interests are CORAM, MEAD and RICHARDS Peter

Hi Sally, just wanted to update my previous message now that I have alittle bit more info. I'm looking for a Richard Rowe in particular. According to his marriage cert (1861) his father was John Rowe, carpenter. The certificate says he was living in St Andrews Plymouth and was "Full age" but I'm suspicous he was not! Don't suppose you can find anyone that fits can you? kind regards Barbara
