Albert and I have been having an in depth conversation as to how he can find this thread and short of finding out where he lives and calling on him to strangle him!!! [just jolking Albert if you ever find this again] I have sent him all the details of the thread - however, I think I may have cracked it for him and he may very well turn up on here!! I live in hope!!

Well done Lewella! I was very confused reading this at first but you have cracked it.

Albert, you really need to check out the file for Wm Jno Jos GEARING online. The whole thing is laid out.

But he was older than you expected as his marriage in 1918 aged 31 makes him born c1887 and when he enlisted in 1915 he was 27. Maybe it is because he was a bit older than his wife Isabel (she was 22 when they married). She was a munitions worker; her father Hy Fletcher DIXON was a coal miner. Wm was a saw mills worker like his father John Jos.

There is a possibility that John Jos GEARING & Annie FOX were children of convicts. Try www.raogk.org for a Tasmanian lookup volunteer.

Good luck!

Cheers
Cherilyn
