I am looking for information on George Briscoe Whalley, Born on the 27th May 1798 in Layton, Essex, England. His wife was Elizabeth Parker. They had 2 children Paul Whalley Born about 1839. Francis Everett Whalley, Born on the 7th June, 1841 in Gloucestershire, England. Thankyou for all your help. Rhonda

Daniel Whalley and Catherine Berry had John Whalley 1761-1839 married elizabeth Roebuck 1765-1844 had George briscoe Whalley 1798 died 1860 in Cheltenham married Elizabeth had Francis 1841 died Australia 1893 married Eliza Ann Spencer born Australia 1844-1900 had Percival Theo Whalley 1869-1958.

Hi, That sounds very good, on the Death Certificate for Francis Everett Whalley, it says George Briscoe Whalley was a Captain in the 39Reg of Foot, Thankyou for all your help, Rhonda

Ok, the Gazette does have some bits for you.

There's an advert stating all his wares for sale in the Times dated 09 Jan 1822.

Still possible for him to run away and get another trade, what better than the military?
