Hello, I am Terry Barton, President of Barton Historical Society. We have a website at http://www.bartonsite.org/ie_index.html dedicated to supporting all Barton families. (Penelope mentioned it in her posting) We'll be glad to list your family, by earliest known ancestor and also be glad to include your Bartons in the 22,000+ database. We'll consider our job done when we've identified all the Barton families in the world. There is a page dedicated to Barton families from the British Isles, with over 40 families listed by earliest known ancestor: http://www.bartonsite.org/inc_family_history/britishisles.htm So far, we've also identified 14 different genetic groups of Bartons. It appears that the Yorkshire Bartons (who went into Scotland) may be genetically related to the Lancashire Bartons. And, the Kent Bartons appear to be a different genetic family. We don't really have enough data to comment on most of the other Barton families, but will be happy to work with you, if one is yours.
