Hi Tracey,
Sorry you only have time to moan, and that a month is such a long time to you ,but not everyone is as savvy as you with a computer, but as you get older you try new things, and hopefully,as with most people on GRU they help you to understand the workings of the system. Sit back ,relax and enjoy life ,it is too short, I assure you.
Regards,
Catherine.

Catherine...

I think you are missing the point a little.... This post is merely to remind people to look at dates....

If you found a letter that was 5 years old would you think to reply to it? ....probably not, but thats exactly what happens here....

And alot of it isn't just people replying saying hi there yes i have a Joe Bloggs in my tree can you message me.... the message is already 5 years old and the person who left it has either left the site or doesn't even remember writing the post!

There are actually newbies who come along and then offer census help and start posting replies, we all then jump along and add our 2p worth, until one of the more sharper 'oldies' points out our error...

When a 'hunt' is on we don't consider the fact the first reply was to a message thats accient, we just climb in and help... this then annoys those who could actually be helping someone awaiting help and making a difference.

While i know the original message it strong...it has to be to get the attention it needs.... you have no idea how many of these kind of replies a day we have to trawl through to get to someone who actually needs live help.

It's pure frustration that drove me to do this....

Angela, the removed posts are merely people deleting a nudge and then replacing it with another one...!!!!

...and Catherine when you read the whole post.....i'm not the only one it annoys, it was written in a WE context not a ME thing.... This place is greater than the sum of all it's parts, just some parts we could do without !!

Happy Hunting

Tracey

Tracy, I know how frustrating this can be as well.
It is a shame we cannot competely delete a nudge message so that it would not take us as long to read the thread.
Good hunting to all on this site.

Catherine and Joan

think of it from the other view point

person B posts on a very old thread

Person A who started the thread no longer looks for that thread or is no longer on the site ........................ so there is no reply

Person B gets upset, feels ignored, because there is no response to whatever it is they said, whether it was help offered or question asked.

IF person B had sent a pm to person A, which is what Tracy and everyone else on here is suggesting, then there would a) have been a response to B, and b) no distraction to the rest of us who get side-tracked onto that thread.

That's all ........... no tizzy or whatever it is you guys are thinking.

I hope you have been grateful for help received in the past? That's all we want to do ............. offer help to more people in future!
