Thomas Vincent Amon Born 1798 Dover Kent. He died in 1876 Hampshire so would like to know where abouts he was in 1871 and whether his wife was with him. I can't find her death as all I know of her is her name Elizabeth. Possible his name would come under Hammon or Hammond.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Margaret, Just come on line.
This makes it all very interesting, I had down Thomas being born in Dover 4 June 1798 as said in 1851 Census. The 1841 Census seems to have the names of the family that I have, Richard Amon B1831 is my GG Grandfather married to Charlotte and was born in Sussex which would fit in with the 1851 census.
If we are to assume they are my family I am looking for it appears that they must have moved after Ann E was born in 1830 in time for the birth of Richard in 1831. They must have moved again to Swanage just before the birth of Frances in 1841 whom I have no record of at all.
It looks like the death of Elizabeth in 1876 Jun Qtr aged 77, and maybe the death I have of Thomas in 1876 Hampshire is the wrong one. That I found yesterday on a contact's tree, to note it is three months later than his wife and to be correct he would have had to move once again. What do you think about this!
I am now going to check out the marriages, it looks like you have found the three sisters all living together on 1881, thanks for that. Before I ask anything else I would like to hear what you think about this.

Just a quick one, I have just had a look at a couple of messages I had printed out on the Amon's in Feb 2007 and it is the correct family as Richard (comes under James surname on 1891 Census) states was born Swanage Dorset now living in folkestone but one of the people with them at the time is my grandmother Florence 3 G daughter so it obviously has to be the correct family. The next time I see Richard in 1901 claims he was born in Burnen, (Burnham) Norfolk It seems to be coming together.
I have something on Richard in 1861, it has him down born in Barton Norfolk as a 'Mate" on the vessel "Emily" with a Thomas age 40 - 60 born on Jersey which could be his father.
Interesting.

Julie .
Sorry not replied before.Perhaps you should buy one or both of the death certs for Thomas and Elizabeth.

You might be able to confirm they are yours by the informants name.

Is this correct.
Richard James Amon married Charlotte Miles 1860 dec qt Hastings Sussex gro ref 2b 21?

1861 census.
William Brice head 1840 Folkstone Kent.
Sarah Ann wife 1833 Dover Kent
Charlotte Amon sister 1838 Hastings Sussex occ mariners wife
Amelia Tittman lodger 1828 Hastings occ mariners wife
Thomas James Tittman 1856 Rye Sussex
Joseph Tittman 1859 Rye.
Mary Ann Tittman 5 months Folkestone

Amelia Tittman looks like she might be Charlottes sister if you check the 1841 census.

1871 census
Charlotte Amon living with Amelia Tiltman and family

Yes that is correct, I have all of that family correctly. I don't particularly want to get the death certificates unless it is absolutely necessary. I think perhaps it might be worth while to get the marriage certificate of Richard James Amon and Charlotte Miles, but I do know that the parents are Thomas Amon and Elizabeth. I had a good look through my files last night and it certainly looks as if they are all connected. Everything seems to lead back to the family, I wrote it all down and checked it out, it always looks better this way.

I suggest you correct all the mistranscribed names for Richard Amon on the census on Ancestry

Called
Richard Hammon in 1881
Richard James in 1891.
Richard Union in 1901

It might help others to find him easier.

Yes that would be a good idea, what do I have to do to do this, haven't done that before.

I am now going to put another message on the board to check out a few Amon's
