Just a point about your father Peter -

you say he was born 3 May 1910 (and as you have his birth cert, that must be correct) , and his death record in 1992 also gives that DOB.

However, his baptism record (posted earlier by ErikaH) says his birth date was 15th May.

Slightly different DOB again - is this him in 1939? I don't see any other birth of a Peter Logan which could be this man -

Hi Argyle/Gran

Yes his birthday was stated on birth and death certificates as the 3rd of May.

I wonder on his pre ww2 army discharge he may have found work down there!
He never spoke about his earlier life much except the odd snippet confirming his mother was of an Irish catholic family and his father C of E which didn’t go down well with either family,
The fact he also had been in the Liverpool Kingd Regiment before the war and that he joined the Royal Artillery for ww2.

I have been in contact with 2 Logan cousins who are related from my fathers aunts and neither knew what had become of John so he may have been cut from the family!

I applied to Blackburn registry office for Francis Logan’s birth certificate and they cannot find it so I have just applied to the GRO for it.

I can’t thank you enough for your help I really do appreciate it

Kind regards

Pam

I think that the marriage certificate of Francis and Lucy will be my next purchase

I forgot to say in my message Mary listed John as living at 12 Gomer Street and he was a Tin Smith Journeyman,
I had thought they lived with her mother Mary Maguire, apparently not!

It does seem that the Francis Paul Logan who married Lucy Williams may be the right person.

Helpers -
Pam has confirmed that the 1912 Blackburn birth cert is the correct one - she was previously given wrong info about parents' names by the person in the registry office.

Francis's DOB was 4 October 1912 - the same as the man who married Lucy.

Thank you for posting above ArgyllGran.

Today I have applied online to Liverpool City Council register office for Francis Paul Logan’s marriage certificate to Lucy Williams.

Hopefully it is him. I did try applying for Christina’s birth certificate but they want an exact place of birth! Ie, if at home part or all of the address and if in hospital name of hospital.
I have never come across this before on applying for certificates

Probably because the birth was less than 100 years ago, and she may still be alive.

Update on Francis Paul Logan marriage certificate.

It arrived today and unfortunately it isn’t my Francis Logan as this Francis was 24 in1927….

There is a Francis Logan born1912 on the 1939 register living in Liverpool if anyone has access I would be very grateful for a look up please.

Kind regards

Pam

I have Francis Paul’s marriage certificate even though his father has the same first name and works in a wood yard my uncle was born in 1912 this man is 27 at the time of his marriage in 1927.

Thank you so much for looking

The Blackburn birth cert with DOB 4 Oct 1912 is the correct one, as you've found.

That's the same DOB as Francis who married Lucy (per the 1939 Register, posted on 8th Jan and again today).

Francis Paul's father has the same name as that of Francis from Blackburn, and presumably has the same occupation.

It seems pretty obvious that Francis Paul is your Francis.

You said Francis Paul was 24 in 1927, and then you said he was 27 in 1927.
But he married in 1937, not 1927. Can you confirm the age, please?

Your Francis would have been 25 in October 1937, which means that in April/May/June 1937 when he married, he was 24.

Pam

Pam Report 17 Feb 2022 11:10

Reading from the marriage certificate of Francis Paul

Date Twenty third of June 1927
Age, 24.
Address 3 Bidson street.Liverpool
With same fathers name and also occupation of my Francis born 1912 who would have been 15

Surely he couldn’t have lied about his age!

Pam

Pam Report 17 Feb 2022 11:15

Sorry l confused everyone stating he was 27 on the marriage certificate instead of 24

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 17 Feb 2022 11:25

You're confusing yourself too!
The marriage was 1937, not 1927:

Francis P Logan
in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Name: Francis P Logan
Registration Date: Apr 1937[May 1937][Jun 1937]
Registration Quarter: Apr-May-Jun
Registration District: Liverpool
Inferred County: Lancashire
Spouse: Lucy Williams
Volume Number: 8b
Page Number: 237

Therefore the age , DOB, father's name and occupation all match your Francis.

It’s the certificate confusing me it definitely says 1927 lol.

Ok I’ve just collected mysel and where it says date and marriage solemnised at…..
It has 1937
But in the left hand column it gives the number then when married it definitely states 1927….. I don’t believe how they can make such a mistake! Or me for that matter but I think I was just so deflated I concentrated on the when married date as I have never come across this in all the family certificates I have ordered over the last twenty years!

I just wish I could post it to show I’m not going bonkers
