Many thanks for all that information. It was the ancestors of Edmund whose DoB is reputedly 1801 and born in Padiham, where I have drawn a blank. It would also appear that Edmund raised two families at Whitaker or am I mistaken that Edmund is not the father of Anthony.?

As regards Beverley Wilkinson my cousin. Yes she married a Frederick Swindells in Tarleton and shortly after they were married emigrated to South Africa. They had at least one son, I believe called after his Grandad John, Christopher or Anthony as the case maybe
I also understand that Beverley and Fred split up within ten years of them emigrating.
