Ok. I must admit all this thinking has got me very tired and I can't stare at this laptop screen anymore.

What I will do though is write all this down and look at it in the morning again.

Can you tell me if the marriages you have listed above have Florence/Edith Lupton's dob as 1902?

Will then see if I can acquire some more information on each marriage ie. spouses name etc. Unless you are telling me that all the marriages have a Squire Heald as the groom..................!!

All I can say is Edith sure was an active lady!! He he!

This family really has me puzzled because I could not find even a marriage for a Squire Heald/Held or anything that remotely looked like his name. Sorry....good luck!

My suggestion would take a break from Squire and Florence/Edith. Search the the other Heald families and maybe you might get lucky. Often times I have gone to another lineage for information and found descendents of that individual(s) who had a clue.

Kat, you got it! I was just searching for a marriage and can't find one between Florence/Edith Lupton and Squire Heald. Then I proceeded to look for all marriages that included a Florence/Edith Lupton; thinking again that maybe she married in between Horwell and Heald relationships. Yes it is possible that Edith did give Kenneth's his father's name but wasn't in fact married to George Horwell. I think he was already a married man and I vaguely remember a story about her working for a wealthy man. If I can establish that it was Edith or Florence Edith Lupton who married Squire Heald then I can try and work with that thread and leave Horwell aside for a bit.

So, as far as I can tell with your kind help this is how it unfurls:
Florence Edith Lupton had an affair with a George Horwell and they had a son Kenneth (my grandfather).
Edith Lupton later married a Squire Heald and we are not clear if there were any more children
Squire Heald's parents are Harry Heald and Elizabeth Heald. He had brothers William, Harry and a sister Margaret
Am I right so far?

Okay, I can not find any marriage for a Florence E. or Edith Lupton to a Horwell. Not to totally confuse you but maybe others may confirm--is it possible that Florence Edith Lupton did not marry Kenneth's father but gave him the father's name of Horwell. Then she later married Squire Heald??

I think you may be right AnnMc in that Kenneth was not Squire Heald's son.

Joan it is possible Edith married twice although I don't think she ever married Kenneth's father.

I don't understand though - Does Squire Heald (born 1897) have a first name?

And all those people in the household - are they children and grandchildren? Apart from Elizabeth who is obviously his wife. I can't understand the family structure.

Oh my ghosh............! I am getting very confused.

Think the best thing to do would be to give you the information I am certain of and that is Kenneth's year of birth was 1919 and he died in 1992. His wife is still alive and is called Renee Horwell.

As far as I am aware Kenneth had step brothers. That is all his wife would tell me. On Kenneth's birth certificate, his father was not listed and no I am not certain about Edith being married. Maybe she wasn't which is why I cannot find any records.

Are you sure that Edith was married? There is another record for a Kenneth Horwell born 1920, mother's maiden name Horwell in York.

Now I am confused - two Luptons here.

I now need to go back and look at the death certificate of Edith to make sure I am working with the correct info. Not sure if Matilda comes into play. Florence Edith however seems to be on the right track.

1919 was the year my grandfather was born and his birth certificate has no father listed on it. So, not sure if Matilda and Joseph belong to him.
