STEPHEN
There is a baptism in Culham
Sarah Welsh 14/11/1762 daugher of William and Susan

William Welch married Susannah Perry by License in Culham 26/5/1758 witnesses John Cornish and Wlliam Pead.

If your Sarah gives the name Susan or Susannah to one of her daughters you might consider this baptism.

Hello Margaret

Can you find a marriage 4th Q 1847 for William Wakenell & Elizabeth ? (possibly Crowdy) Bicester RD but not at Bicester as I have those transcripts.
Perhaps one of the adjacent parishes ?

Thanks
Elizabeth

Edit
In the census' Elizabeth gives her place of birth as Bicester but in the 1881 it is Merton so the marriage may there ? !

Hi Margaret,
I have a Sarah Palmer who married Joseph Woodley in 1860, they are recorded in the 1861 census in St Thomas Oxford. Sarah died in 1868 and I am trying to establish if the following were their children.
Thomas Woodley 1861
William Woodley, 1863
Susan Woodley 1864
John Woodley 1867.
All three boys were in the Oxford Workhouse in the 1871 census and Susan doesn't appear in the 1871 census but is in the 1881 census.

Please can you have a quick look to see if there are any baptisms for these children in or around the St Thomas area (possibly Holy Trinity).

Many Thanks

Christine

Hi

Would it be possible for you to do a look up in Ascott under Wychwood please? I have a William Venveld (also spelt Venvel/Venvill) born 1757. I am looking for references to his parents and their place of birth. I believe he was baptised 15 May (my birthday!) 1757 at Parish Church of Ascott Cof E (I got this from the IGI)

I believe he married Priscilla Hanks 3rd Jan 1785.

Would be very grateful for any info

Kind Regards

Una

Hi Margaret,

Many thanks for the info. helping me to confirm that these children were Joseph & Sarah's. It's always difficult to establish what's happened between census years and although I suspected that these children were Joseph & Sarah's it's great to now have this confirmed.
Many thanks once again.

Christine.

UNA

William Venfield born c 1728 married 28/10/1750 Woodstock by Banns both of this parish
Johanna Cross born c 1731

William was buried Ascot U Wychwood 29/3/1816 aged 88 yrs of Witney

Hannah was buried Asc U Wych 7/4/1814 aged 83 yrs

I think that the Hannah Venfield buried as above is the correct wife of William, there are no other entries for Venfield applicable.

They had
Ann bapt 2/2/1755 Asc U Wych

William 15/5/1757

Mary 10/2/1760

George 7/3/1762

Jenny 16/10/1763

Hannah 18/5/1766

Sarah 9/7/1769

Elizabeth 28/6/1772 buried 14/12/1785

I have looked in Woodstock for the baptisms of William and Johanna Cross but nothing there.

There is a marriage for William Venvild in Great Rollright he a sojourner to Alisha Osbaldiston 5/12/1727
but no children baptised in Great Rollright, he may have taken her home to have their family.
But there is a burial for Alice wife of William Venvil 30/12/1755 Great Rollright.

I do not know where William who married Alice came from so cannot search for the maybe baptism of William Venfield c 1728.

Perhaps the IGI will show something.

Sorry not to have better news.
