Hi Sian - South Wales is a fairly large area and Thomas is a very common Welsh surname - can you be any more specific?

It's impossible to do Thomas in Wales without certs. You will need one of his children's birth certs for his wife's maiden name followed by his marriage cert to find out his dad's name.

Each cert can be bought from the GRO & will cost you £7

Please don't try to do this without the certs, there are loads of Thomas' in South Wales
