Can you tell me a bit more please as their are several James Lister's in Birstall.

One is with parents Joseph & Martha another is John & Sarah. Later on one is married to a Caroline and another is married to a Sarah so you can see my predicament. Do you know of any children that he had, this could narrow down my search.

Was he the one that died around 1912 as that will be the James G Lister that I have found that married Caroline.

I was wondering if you could help me with the following which is my husbands great-grandparents.

JAMES HENRY MCCLEAN on the 1901 census aged 36 in Grimsby Lincolnshire, with his wife Elizabeth???? and son's William Henry McClean aged 5 (hubby's grandfather born 14/7/1895 caistor, Lincolnshire.) also Alexander aged 4 & James Edward aged 1.
It states on the census that James Henry McClean b. 1864c was a Manilla Rope Dresser and born in Newcastle On Tyne. But before the Newcastle it says something like Scotland or similar.
We do know that the McClean family has a scottish connection somewhere along the line, possibly in Argyle, around the Isle of Mull area.

I then searched on Ancestry.com and found what looks like a marriage for a James Henry McClean
Oct/Nov/Dec quarter 1894 Boston - Lincolnshire.
Volume 7a page 785.
Unfortunately I don't have membership on Ancestry and wondered if you would possibly be able to look at it for me if you can. I know his wife's name was Elizabeth???.

I would be very grateful for any help or advice on this.

Have had a look in the earlier censi for both James McClean and Elizabeth Wright but nothing is coming up as conclusive.

I also looked at the 1901 census actual scan and it seems to say Lincs which they have then crossed out and put Newcastle.

Your next step is to get the marriage certificate for these two = this will then give you the fathers names and addresses and also witnesses which normally proves to be brothers/sisters family etc.
