Hi Michelle

You have been busy - will have a look at these. Margaret M (Maude?) could be interesting.

Did see the Margaret 4mths myself but at the moment know of no links to Anderson.

Re Birth place for Margaret - all I can assume is that her pregnant mother and father left Ireland c 1860 and she was born either on the sea crossing or very soon after landing in Scotland.

Mind is carrying away with itself now! Listing below some possible leads?

Interesting quote from a site about Workhouses:

In Yorkshire for the 1881

Although he is unmarried on the 1881..and there is a child on the 1891 aged 12. Looking at the 1881 I cannot see him in Scotland? Was he married after 1881? This maybe nothing? Worth a look. Had a quick look and couldn't see Mary the wife from the 1891 in 1881 either? Is she under her maiden name?

What is so hard with this one is not only do we not have a solid 100% surname for Margaret we also have 3 possible places of birth for her. Most confusing! and 2 census records to work off...Scotland and England!

Was still no sign of James and Sarah. I do believe they are left off the 1891 in error. Least you now have his father.

Good luck in your research

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your trouble. I would never have found "Robert" myself though it is obviously him. I have had a look at the 1891 on Ancestry and see there is no sign of James & Sarah around 27 William Street. If it helps, the occupation of James was given as carpenter at his marriage in 1885 although he was an electrician in 1901. I think you may be right about James & Sarah being missed from the census.

Yours,

Debbie

Debbie

If you look further up I have found Robert (Patrick?) on the 1891 living at the address you stated. James and Sarah were as you said listed on the London, England, Electoral Registers, 1835-1965 living at that address also. I have looked at either page either side of number 27 and only Thomas Mullins is there. I will keep looking but I am wondering if they were not in on the night of the census and were not followed up? There are sadly quite a few like this on the census records.
