Hi dutch

On the first page it says he was joining the 21st (Reserve) Battalion.

Further down, in answer to the question"...have you ever served...." it says "Queens Westmrs 5 yrs and Nat Reserve. Transferred to TF ex Sergt.

Westmrs could be Westminsters; TF could be Territorial Force ( I think this was the forerunner of the TA)

On the second page it says 21st Company of London Regiment.

On a small slip further on it says 2 Westr

He does seem to have had two numbers: 3182 which I think was his Queen's Westminsters No and 651053 which appears to have been his London Regiment No.

I wonder if his earlier records could be in the National Archives.

On Ancestry, click on Search at the top of the screen, then scroll down on left of screen to where it says Military Records; click on that and fill in the info in the boxes (name and YOB), select Birth Country , England. Make sure you put a tick in the box "Only show results from UK and Ireland". He should be the second in the list.

The service records state that he was in 4 different regiments before the document year of 1914. Describes him as "ex-Sgt"!
