Hi Christine,

Did I tell you that I found George Huzzard's death entry on Tees Valley Indexes?!! He died in 1904 (May/June quarter Middlesbrough). So, Benjamin was only 1 year old... and George W was only 5ish.. they were the only Huzzard children, then the Mennell children after that. I also found Eliza's second marriage to Henry Mennell, 1907, Middlesbrough.

I don't know if it was a good thing or not you giving me that Gale Newstrial website Christine!!!.... I am having a hard time getting away from it! I found the WW1 Documentation for George W - many thanks. It's a shame that so much of the paperwork was totally illegible though.. especially the health/medical form which would have given me a description of him physically... oh well, at least I have documentation of his medals, where he was stationed, etc. Lovely that this was FREE for the trial period... have been looking at old newspaper obituaries, etc. too. Could not find a newspaper for the Middlesbrough area, but found a Hull one!! A lot of the Huzzard mentions relate to the Harold W. Huzzard's (from the WW1 Records) next of kin, George Huzzard who lived at Wilsic Hall, Doncaster. Enjoyed looking though..

Oh, one piece of info I found out on that site, under Death Obituaries from the Hull Packet & EastRiding Times, was a death on August 3rd, 1846, John Huzzard, age 77, Livery Stable Keeper, Salthouse-Lane. Wondering if this was Gorbert's father??? Gorbert was born in 1801 and had a Livery Stable (1851 Census, Kingston Upon Hill). Any chance of a lookup or two for John Huzzard, b. 1769?? PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

That's all for now... early bedtime as I have an early shift at work (first day back after 4 days off sick...)...

Regards,

Carole

AsI said earlier I don't think Gorbert is an ancestor of your George but I could be wrong.

Where did you get the info from which takes you back to Gorbert?

Hi Christine,

I got the information on Gorbert from a GR hotmatches email (Anne Parker). She just said she thought Georges grandfather could be Gorbert Huzzard b1801 in Hull, living in Huzzards Yard. He had a livery stable. Also, she said he could be the son of ann Uzard (huzzard) b1775 in Flamborough. She just asked me to look at the censuses and see what I thought... leap of faith really. Just gathering all possibilities to see if we can get further back than George...

I was thinking that I will send for George's birth and marriage certificate to get verification for William (addresses etc.). Then send off for William's birth certificate... probably the only way I will find out for sure if I am on the right track with Gorbert and/or Ann! What would you do?

Think I will contact Anne Parker again, ask her where she found her info. She also told me (ages ago) that she had a newspaper article regarding one of the Huzzards (think it was a tram accident?) and that she would send me it.. will remind her! Wonder if it was George? and that is why he died so young? Will get on it right away.

Regards,

Carole
