Jane being born in Oxfordshire came from the 1901 Census that Choccy posted:-

1901 England Census
Name: Jane Rimmington
Age: 26
Estimated birth year: abt 1875
Relation: Servant
Gender: Female
Where born: Burford, Oxfordshire, England <<<<<<<<

...... but that does NOT mean that William and Margaret were or could have been married there!!

In fact ................. I usually don't even use county when I'm looking for marriages (or births). I use the name(s) and possible range of years

Gail ......... you can do these lookups for bmds yourself.

Just go to www.freebmd.org.uk ................ it's a free site, and carries the records from the beginning of rgistration on July 1 1837 to (currently) about 1940. Volunteers are rapidly adding the missing records, and will reach the end of 1983 soon.

As I said ...... it is FREE, so you can go there, and have the fun of finding information for yourself.

Battenburg Report 4 Jan 2010 19:21

Jane Fox wife of John Rimmington is born in Oxfordshire

John Rimmingtons parents William and Margaret are from Manchester and Ireland.
You need the 1871 census to find if there are any older children for William and Margaret to narrow down the marriage. And to make sure William wasnt married to someone else.
There is a 4 year gap between children Charles and William so it could be a later marriage

It could also be they married in Ireland

NanaSue

have you added a Postem to his death registration on freebmd?

That would be a HUGE help to people looking for him

SylvianCanada - need to understand why on freebmd. Also why would one do it anyway. I only notify them of incorrect transcriptions

I actually found the record on GR. He was my nan's sister's third hubby.
Didn't have any trouble finding the ref. The cert arrived.
Only when I was doing research on him and the names on my grandfathers will that I found people looking for him.

Some have been in touch with me and the info is flowing. My research is proving acurate - Seems I've solved the mystery of my grandmother at long last - waiting for more certs which should finally prove it.

;-) ;-) ;-)

Adding a Postem on freebmd can be a great boon to other researchers who either don’t subscribe to this site, or even to any other. Brief details could help them decide whether or not to purchase their own copy of the certificate. I’ve added Postems to many of the index references for certificates I’ve purchased.

http://www.bmdshare.com/ is another site where people can post details of certificates, and leave an email address if they want to.

It’s down to personal choice, and it’s great that you have been able to share your research with others.

Come to think of it – this thread will come up as a result if anyone makes an internet search for George Fox Rimmington, including the basic details of his death registration.

:-D

NanaSue ........

you ask why put a Postem on freebmd ............

....... as a help to any other researcher looking for GFR's death.

It's a huge help. and can help decided whether they want to (or need to) spend £9.25 buying a death certificate which may or may not be "their" GFR

A big aid for people on fixed or low income.

Plus, you can include a means for people to contact you, if they so wish ........... thus widening your net for contacts
