Is Bolton anywhere near where William was born. I have a William Winder living with brother John in the 1881 census. Says they were born in Bolton Lancashire.

Sorry I need sleep.

AuntySherlock Report 30 Jan 2010 19:27

I have found your John - Window Glass Cutter. 1881 Census.

But it does not make any sense. His dob is 1855. He is married to Ann. They are the only two in the house. He does not have a readable family name on the census. What I think has happened and this could be wrong, is that his name and occupation have been muddled.

John ? Window Glass Cutter

John Winders, Glass Cutter. Oh I love speculation.

I found that one too AS but discounted it because the birth date was wrong !!

I can't go any further until I know if anything is on the right track.

I keep going back to the coal miner. Also found one who was a cart driver.

What we need is John Winders siblings. But then we need to find the correct John Winders before we can match his siblings in the census.

William Winders birth certificate would give us his father and mother would it not. It might also give us his mother's maiden name. If we know the mother it will be easier to chose the family in a census. It will also give us father's occupation.

Ladykira, whoo hoo, where are you???

Hey this is a reversal of the norm, me yelling for you!!

AuntySherlock Report 30 Jan 2010 23:19

Checked the Lancashire Parish records for Winders William 1869 and family. Found marriage you h ave and also same information for Ellen.

No similar information for any of the children (well not that makes any sense).

Do youhave a poor sore head?? Was it something you ate??

LadyKira

LadyKira Report 31 Jan 2010 14:10

I had a wonderful meal actually in a Cypriot restaurant. One of the owners is on genes and I met her for the first time last night.
That could be somewhere for your OH to bring you to AS.
Long cab ride though.
Surprisingly my head is not sore so you can stop shouting.

Daughter and her OH stayed overnight so I have been running round after 2 year old this morning.

Will start pondering over this last this afternoon then give you some answers.

Thanks every one.

Just to give you an idea about this tree. She has the marriage certificate for William and Ellen.

On her tree she has put the parents as Charles and Elizabeth????????

Question LK. Are you using a site which enables you to check addresses connected to the census. If you are I won't go there.
Answer
I use Findmypast and can search addresses.

I have traced all of the children through the censuses.

I have looked at lancashire OPC site.
I will look at Ellen slightl later I think because I will need to delete half her tree and I want to rebuild the correct one.

Hang on Aunty I will have to come on as her.
