I have checked the Commonwealth War Graves site again and there is no record of a George Frederick Thomas who died on the date you give for his death and I would have expected him to be recorded if he died at the Somme. |

Thanks to everyone for the info so far, I am actually finding out this for a good friend so will check again with her about dates, I should have looked at the dates and queried them myself!! |

Sharon, how do you know that Thomas is George's father? Thomas would have been 59 years old at time of George's birth. |
