Trying to locate my GG Grandfather and his parents.
Edward Evans born abt 1855/60 Wrexham Wales.
Father Thomas Evans, born Wales.

Edward married Helena Rosina Carpenter (known as Ellen) b 1860 Bristol.
They married in 1907 at St. Marys Church, Walton on the Hill, Liverpool.

Any help would be much appreciated. This is a total brickwall for this family.

Edward & Rosina married in 1907, you say she was born in 1860, which makes her 47 when they married. How many children did they have?

seems very late to me, as you think he was even older. how old are they on the marrage cert?

Sorry but there are too many to pin him down.

You need the marriage certificate to get his and the fathers occupations to stand any chance of finding them

Also, have you looked at the 1911 census?

it is remotely possible that they pretended to be married, or for some other reason were unable to get married until 1907

you need to get certificates to confirm anything

Dea

Dea Report 24 Apr 2010 08:04

From the 1911 census, and considering they had been married 31 years and their first child was born in bootle,
then this would seem the most likely marriage:

Marriages Mar 1879 (>99%)

***EVANS Edward W. Derby 8b 455
HALES Emily W. Derby 8b 455
Morton John W. Derby 8b 455
***Redman Ellenor W. Derby 8b 455

Are you sure the info you put in your first post is correct?

What other info do you have on them please?

Do you think that the couple in the 1911 is the correct one, if so, I am sure you have the wrong marriage.

Can you tell us all you know and how you have got back to them please?

Hi all,
Sorry for not replying sooner, didn't realise I did not get notification when a msg arrived.

The info everyone has found on census 1891 1901 1911 is correct.
I do have the marriage cert for Edward and Ellen (Helena Rosina Carpenter) and yes it is the 1907 marriage. I have never been able to find an earlier marriage. The witnesses on the marriage certificate are Ester Amelia, her sister and her husband, William Robt Almond who were married just prior to Edward and Ellen on the same day. Edward and Ellen were witnesses for Esther and William. They were married at St. Marys Kirkdale. I have both Certificates.

To prove that I am on the right track I have my grandfather's death certificate from New Zealand and it has his mother as Helena Rosina Carpenter.

What I would love to find is the birth and death registration of Edward and any other information on him, prior to 1891 and any other sibblings Edward may have had.
His father's name was Thomas. He was deceased in 1907 when Edward married Ellen.
I only know that Edward was born in Wrexham.......this according to the Census. I had been told by my mother that we had Welsh connections.

It would be also nice to be able to find information on Edward and Ellen's other children. I have never heard of any other siblings of my grandfather mentioned by him.
I think at present I am on the track of Walter Evans b 1895, found a marriage to an Ellen Ankers which could match up. But proving it is "Walter" from my family is proving quite difficult. I can only find both Ellen and Walter up to 1911. They were married, if it is them in 1916. Here the trail stops unfortunately

I am currently awaiting the death cert of Helena (Ellen) father George. Delayed with the Volcanic Ash incident. Hopefully this week. Has been nearly a month now.

Sorry for the long winded reply, but will check more often from now on.
Thank you to everyone's help here, it is much appreciated.

I omitted to say in my last post that I have not been able to locate George Edward Evans b 1882 to Edward and Ellen. Have his birth certificate.
He does not appear on the 1901 census and that is where I have lost him.

I do have my grandfather, Albert Martin Evans b 1889, have his birth cert, on the 1901 census at the Everton Industrial School. He trained as a shoemaker and had a business in Bootle.......I think. He also had a Chiropodist Business here in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Albert Martin info is not a problem.

If I can find information on George Edward b 1882, Toxteth Park would be great.
