Oh goodness - all you kind people out there are certainly trying hard to establish George's details. It certainly looks as though the 1841 date is incorrect and that it was actually 1833 - that ties in with so many of the census details. I'm now wading through the names and dates :-)

BatMansDaughter Report 31 Aug 2010 18:23

Catherine,

Daniel and Ann are fairly old to have a son aged 16ish in 1841, do you think that maybe George was their Grandchild but they took him on as theirs for the face of things?

Anythings possible in this game, Dee.
After some of the things I have found in the past, I would never rule anything out.

Catherine Report 31 Aug 2010 18:32

Just had a look at 1841 and ages look more like 44, than 66.

BatMansDaughter

BatMansDaughter Report 31 Aug 2010 18:36

I agree, does look more like 44 than 66.......... Joseph born 1839 is an orphan by 1851............... who's this William on George's marriage as his father though.

What a web they can certainly spin. LOL. ;0)

Irene Report 31 Aug 2010 18:36

I'm totally lost now - I can't fathom out who is who! Catherine and Dee, you're both brilliant at working through it: all :-)

Catherine

Catherine Report 31 Aug 2010 18:36

Re marriage with father William Weaver:- I've had a look for a birth of a George Weaver with father William and can't find anything. I'm wondering if they haven't just made a mistake especially as her father is also William???

.........Off to do the dinner! Will look in later :-)

How this all started: I was contacted by a Stephen Brumpton on this site who thought we were distant cousins, our common ancestor being Robert Weaver dob 1806. Stephen and I both had a George Weaver in our tree and we thought it was the same person, Stephen's line being from George Weaver 1841 whereas my George was born in 1851 - we just presumed it was a discrepancy in the dob's somewhere along the line. Stephen and I have been corresponding for several months now, sharing photos etc but I have now found out that the 2 Georges are different people! Iam now trying to find out if the 2 Georges were perhaps cousins? I don't have family in Lincolnshire now but Stephen does and the Elkingtons are still farmers in his area.

Hello again!
Got a few more mins. before hubby come homes.
Could you give us a bit of info on your George (dob1851) please.
Where was he born and who were his parents, then maybe we can find a link between the two families?

Irene

Irene Report 31 Aug 2010 20:02

George Weaver dob 1851 had siblings William 1831- c1912, Sarah 1835, Robert 1837, Mary 1840, Ann 1842, Susan 1845, Mary 1847. George's Father was Robert Weaver dob 1805 who married twice to Dorothy Bingham and secondly to Jane dob 1804. Robert Weaver's Father was Edward Weaver dob c1771. Strangely enough my 'cousin, Stephen Brumpton who has George dob1841 (now we know is 1833), has some of these same siblings in his tree?
