Can anyone help me with electoral roll look ups which are held at monmouthshire council for period 1919 - 1929. Females got the vote late in 1920's and this is what I am after as I cannot track my great grandmothers name hence the females should appear on electoral roll during this period.
If anyone is able to help that would be appreciated and please do not hesitate to contact me.

thanks ruth :-)

Can anyone help me with the district a death would come under when the family lived in abertridwr, caerphilly, glamorganshire, south wales in . appprox 1935.
My great grandparents Thomas Thomas and Ellen Unknown. They lived in trethomas from 1918 - 1929 according to the ellectoral roll which I have now obtained.
The family tell me that they moved from trethomas to edward terrace, abertridwr, glamorganshire so what area would this come under when looking for the certificate. :-)

Hi Mike, can you tell me why you think that my grandmother annie ellen iThomas s more likely to be the neath birth rather than the runcorn cheshire.
I have asked the GRO to check both and organise a certificate but they have come back and said that the checking points did not indicate that these are the certificates I am after as the checks failed.
I am happy to take a punt and just get them to send one of them anyway.
To update you I have now obtained the birth certificate of Annie ellens son Lewellyn Thomas born 30/9/1915 registration district llandilofawr, county of carmarthen. Born at 18 harrold street, tir-y-dale, ammanaford. Annies address is showing as 39 Margam street, caerau, glamorgan. The childs
death was at 29 william street, trethomas, glamorgan in 1929..
Annie married her first husband in 7/5/1916 in caerau, glamorgan and her address is showing up as 36 margam street, caerau. Her husband Ernest Edwins lived at ivira street, ammanaford.
Any suggestions?

I am looking for someone who can do a look up for me for this family in the electoral roll for 1934 - 36. In edwards terrace, abertridwr and 9 brynhyfrydd terrace, senghenydd, glamorganshire, south wales.

Annie Ellen Thomas (my grandmother) approx birth 1892 according to her marriage certificate.
Birth place: Wales. Area unknown. Cannot locate her birth certificate. This is what I am really after to know the mothers full single name.
Death: 7/4/1973 Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales. My grandmothers death details on ancestory is indicating her dob as 23/12/1897.

Marriages: x 3
1. Ernest Edwins 7/5/1916 Caerau, Glamorganshire. Died in the forces in Flanders 1917.
2. William Henry Phillips 9/5/1921- Newport, glamorganshire - died 08/12/1961 Senghenydd, Glamorganshire, South Wales
3. Harry Edmunds 1965 Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales - died 1967.

Annie's parents (I believe) Again I am told by the family that thomas was married twice no convincing evidence of this to date.

Thomas Thomas (my great grandfather- miner ) Not sure of birth but approx 1870 - area unknown- death I believe in the 1930's in Caerphilly, South Wales.
Ellen Thomas ( my great grandmother) (dont know her single name) Not sure of birth approx 1870 - death I believe in the 1930's and died in abertridwr, caerphilly, Glamorganshire, South Wales.

Need to find deaths of thomas and ellen and to limit the period need someone to look up electoral rolls for me.

thank you.

Can anyone help me further with this enquiry. I have found my greatgrandparents deaths in wales in 1934 & 1936.. However, I am having difficulty in the early 1900's due to records being destroyed during the 1st world war e.g. electoral roll. Can you tell me what documents should show me the grandparents area of birth as obviously the census is not yet released or am I just out of luck.

I haven't read the whole thread but if she was born in Wales then these look like the 'possibles' (Maiden names are shown which may well help if you know more):

THOMAS, ANNIE ELLEN ROACH Order
GRO Reference: 1894 S Quarter in NEATH Volume 11A Page 758 Order

THOMAS, ANNIE ELLEN JONES Order
GRO Reference: 1898 S Quarter in ABERAYRON Volume 11B Page 36 Order

Also this one if Ellen was short for Eleanor?

THOMAS, ANNIE ELEANOR FORTUNE Order
GRO Reference: 1894 J Quarter in PEMBROKE Volume 11A Page 1085 Order

As the thread is SO long and there has been a lot of info on here already discounted, can you give us as short version of what you have actually found which you know to be true on her and her family please?

Thanks,

Dea x

Somewhere on this thread, there is a reference to a Thomas/Roach marriage - whether or not it's the right parents I have no idea, but it may be a pointer.

Perhaps she was born Ellen Ann, but went by her middle name so not to confuse her with her mother:

Births Mar 1896
Thomas Ellen Ann Pontypridd 11a 483

MMN is Griffiths.

Rose, if the DOB was truthful on the 1939 register, it can't be that birth. Doesn't fit with a birth in December 1897.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 13 Jul 2018 13:33

D O B given in 1939 was Dec 1896.

Death registraton gives it as 23/12/1897

So how one is expected to pinpoint the correct birth is beyond me

Name: Anne Ellen Edmunds
Death Age: 75
Birth Date: 23 Dec 1897
Registration Date: Jun 1973
Registration district: Cardiff
Inferred County: Glamorganshire
Volume: 8b
Page: 999

Birth registration would almost certainly have been during JFM in the year following whichever of the above dates is correct
