Another question re my family history. I believe my grand-father, George Henry Thomas served in WW2 for the Cheshire Regiment, how do I find out any more details.
Hope you can point me in the right direction.
Thank-you

Lynne
that does look like it
I asked for Rose Thomas, b, 1901 +/1 2 years, Yorkshire
and that was the only one that came up
it looks as though she went to stay with her grandparents!
Rosemarie ............... It might be worth getting her birth certificate to see whose child she was ......... and then hope they told the truth!
Thanks Maureen!

Just looked at the nametags of the people who have been helping me, I presume Canada and NY means we are talking across the ocean. I am in the UK and it is currently 01:36 , so I must get some sleep.
Thank-you for all your help , it has opened up lots of avenues for me to research.

Sylvia,
Yes that is the record.
It is odd when I first started looking at family history I expected the relatives to have lived in one place for hundreds of years, but my family certainly moved around a lot and each generation married someone from the other side of the UK. My father married a German lady, do you have any hints on research German records.

Sylvia,
The sister-in-law Rose E Clarke was born I believe in Merhyr and not Essex like her sister Mary. So maybe Rose Omenia could be in Merthyr in 1911 there is a connection. The fact that Rose Omenia later married to someone in Penistone is very interesting as this town is only a few miles from where my grandfather lived. Odd that the family never mentioned her. Wonder if she was John and Marys child or whether she was the sister-in-laws Rose E Clarke who was only 16 at the time, but that is just speculation.
Lot more digging required. Quite facinating all this family history.
thanks again.

Rosemarie, just to confirm that on the 1901 Rose E Clarke is indeed listed as sister in law.

Maureen,
Thank-you this certainly looks good. I could not work out where 'Rervy' was but does seem likely that it is 'Kerry'.
I can know set off on my searches again.
One of the sad things is that the child Rosomonia Thomas 1 month obviously died, and that Rose E Clarke was my great-grandmothers younger sister probably.
Thanks again for your help.

Their marriage certificate would help narrow it down by giving John's father's name.

I can trace back to my great-grandfather but no further. His name was John Thomas born around 1872 ? he was married to Mary Elizabeth Clarke born 1879. They met at Elan Village, Wales. Elan Village was were all the workers on the reservoir system lived. He later lived in Ingleton where my Grandfather was born. Some of my grandfathers sisters where born at Willington Quay, Northumberland.
When my grandfather George Henry Thomas (born Ingleton 1909) died his ashes were buried in a family grave near Glynneath, South Wales.
Other than this I am struggling, especially with a name like Thomas !! Can anyone help ?
