Hi Susan,

Sounds like they were travelers so don't think I will be able to help much but will try.
When was Emmeline Taylor born? who was she with on the 1901 census and do you have her on the 1911 census?
Do you know where and when about her parents were born? If you can tell me as much as you know about them as it might help me and other regulars who look at this thread to help.

Hi Peter,

No Ann and Phoebe were not twins, on the 1841 census anyone over the age of 15 had their ages round up or down to the 15 20 25 30 and so on.
Phoebe was christened on 18 Jan 1822 at St Peters Church Mansfield and Ann was on 24 Nov 1819 both daughters of Robert and Eliz Rowbotham a shoemaker.
Ann and Robert Bentley were married at St Peters on 25 Dec 1836.

Hi Wendy thanks for your reply . Her parents were Charles Taylor and Alice Smith . I know nothing else except that he was a horse slaughterer. On her marriage cert which I have he was deceased . She was born on the 5.11.1885 in Nottingham in the sub distict of Park . in a van opposite to Goodhead St . In 1901 she was living under the name of Emmalia Taylor in Cannock as a sevant with a family who were butchers . . I rember my Mum saying she lived in cannock so she must have come upto lancashire between then and 1909 when she married my Grandad . I have her in Accrington Lancs on the 1911 census married to george Crawshawon her birth cert hername was Emmeline . thanks for your help susan

Hello Wendy, I would be very grateful if you could do a couple of marriage looksups for me when you are next at the archive, if you have the time.

Thomas Leavesley married Amy Hemsley at St. Peters 27.10.1800
(any extra information would be a great help)

Hannah Leavesley married William Cooper at St Pauls 3.5. 1853

I appreciate your help.

Nottsgirl Report 27 Nov 2011 19:20

Peter,

Dont send for the certificate you will just waste your money I can check the marriage's at the archives and get copies form there, this is what you found on tBMD :

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Mar 1863 (>99%)
BENTLEY Robert Mansfield 7b 72
CHAPMAN Elizabeth Mansfield 7b 72
HUNTINGTON Leonard Mansfield 7b 72
JONES Hannah ! Mansfield 7b 72

Just because there is an Elizabeth there doe not not mean that he married her

Robert Bentley married Hannah Jones 15 Feb 1863
Elizabeth Chapman married Leonard Huntington 16 Feb 1863 both marriages were at the same church I have those on my discs so dont waste your money.

Robert on the 1871 census is down as married but his wife is not with him Hannah was in Hospital in Nottingham and died Dec Qtr 1871 Mansfield leaving him to marry Elizabeth Ranes in 1877.

If you look on your thread you will see that someone left details of her.

Please give me time to check the marriages I'm doing my best to help you.
