Do you know if Ann was definitely an only child?
Did Michael marry again?
Do you know anything about Michael's job as a stoker?
And any idea how she got from Liverpool to Nottinghamshire?
Thanks.

This is the only likely candidate I can find but it gives her birth place as Nottinghamshire. I need to trace it further back but i have to get ready for work. Will look further when I come home. This, at least puts her in the right place to have met Edward who is still in Nottinghamshire in 1871.

Found this. I don't think it is related to the family I posted above from Nottinghamshire although I can't find any of them either before or after the 1871.

Hi Patchem.
As far as we know Ann was an only child, my Dad and Aunt remember quite a few things about the Gt Grandma and never heard of her having siblings. We don't think that Michal married again. We know nothing about his job a Stoker (it wa stated on Ann's marriage certificate) It is thought that later he was a bargee. Edward Marsh and his brother Richard were bricklayers and worked in Liverpool and other parts of Lancashire and that is where he was said to have met Ann.
Thanks again Teresa

Hi Astra.
Dad says Ann was definatley born in Liverpool. Marsh brothers worked in Lancashire bricklaying and met Ann there.
The 1861 census with Ann and Michael as Lodgers looks very promising.
The other one does not look like our family.
The Marsh's settled in Retford in the late 1780's and most lived in Retford, moving around sometimes to work.
Thanks again Teresa
