Hello Samantha, I do hope you and Christine can get in touch as it sounds like you have a fair bit of common information.

Did you ever receive her pm into your message inbox?

Do come back on here and let us know how you get on, also if we can help further.

Helllo Christine

Yes it has been a couple of years since i have been on this site.

I packed and boxed everything away as other things had taken over my time of being able to research and something had to give (shame really).

I would love to start my research again with the Ebdon family, as there is one connection that im wanting to discover.

I have sent you a message so shall await for a reply from you.

Also i would just like to say to all the helpers on this thread that over the last couple of years i have become older and wiser, and would like to thank you all for your time and help.
Im sorry if you feel that i have wasted any of your time and effort, that was never my intention and that i am grateful for all that you have done for me.

Many many thanks

If you click on "search" at the top right of the screen and then click on "search all trees" you can put the relative's name into the search box and if you find her then you can send her a direct message.

Thank you for explaining. I'll just have to sit back and wait now.

I wonder if you are able to help me again. I know a relative who had some time ago started their "tree". I wasn't a subscriber back then, so could not access. This was on my "mother's" side of the family and I maybe able to help them also by adding. Can you point me in the direction of how to do this please (I am now a subscriber)

Christine, providing Samantha has kept a current email address registered with GR then she'll be notified. If you go to your "sent messages" you can tell if she'd read your message or not. If there's a green envelope next to it then the message is unopened by the recipient. If that green envelope has gone then the message has been read.

Genes don't send emails notifying people when there are replies on a thread. There IS an option in "Watched Threads" to request this but it doesn't always seem to work!

Christine Report 20 Jan 2013 15:19

Thank you very much. I'm new to this site so am slowly trying to work out the logistics! I have sent her a PM now. By doing this, am I to understand that the "site" will send an email to her informing her of the arrival of a message? Thanks for your help in advance.

Having read the above posts - I soon realised she had hit a brick wall which I know I can open up to her. It would seem a shame to get this far.... and afterall it would seem I am a relative which is a good thing.

Hi Christine - welcome to the boards.

Seeing as it's a couple of years since Samantha posted she mightn't see your reply.

You could try contacting her by clicking on her name to send a direct message.

I did a little work on your first thread.
Why not start a third thread as no-one has replied to this one during the middle of the British night? (Sarcasm)
You seem to hit a lot of 'brick walls'. You have to be patient and buy the certificates, because it costs time and money, and you cannot rely on helpers waving magic wands and solving your problems for you.
Yes, I am annoyed. People were duplicating information, and you ended up keeping both threads going.
You could have copied and pasted over relevant information at the very least.
Sorry, but I must be very grumpy first thing in the morning, IT training has that effect.

Oh lord
I really dont know which one it is going to be
Marriage 1935 to Gladys Doble, Newton Abbot
Has a child Audrey J Ebdon St Thomas Devon

Or
1932 to Betty Bane, Hammersmith who later dieds in Sept 1936

Or
Mead Ellen h Ebdon Lambeth March 1939

I was rather hoping that if there was going to be a child it would have been a male rather than female.

Thank you all and at so late at night

Thats a good idea, just been on the phone talking to my mother as she made the call to me she said Frank moved to London to live but not sure when, so have now just called my Nan to ask if she knew Franks Wifes first name but she doesnt know as when he used to visit he came alone

KathleenBell Report 12 Jun 2011 19:53

There is this marriage in London:-

Name: EBDON, Frank
Registration District: Hammersmith
County: London
Year of Registration: 1932
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Bane
Volume No: 1A
Page No: 725

Name: BANE, Betty
Registration District: Hammersmith
County: London
Year of Registration: 1932
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Ebdon
Volume No: 1A
Page No: 725

The only way of knowing would be to buy one of the certificates and see if the father's name was correct.

You could also try phoning the GRO and say you are not sure which is the correct marriage but you know his father's name. You might get lucky and they will tell you which one to order.

Hi Kath

No Bessie had a brother Frank on the 1911 census born 1907, Ivan and my grandfather Leonard were her sons.
I just not sure if Frank married in Devon or in London
