Find Ancestors

I have been searching under both names for this lady's birth record on GU and FreeBMD without success. I have her marriage to David Birkin in 1943 and her death in 2004 but cannot find her birth as Judy, Judith, Mary, as a Gamble or Campbell!
She was related to the John A Campbell in my tree. He ran the Theatre Royal in Grantham in 1936 & was a playwright.
Her obituary stated that she was born in Grantham Lincolnshire 31 May 1916 but I have been unable to find the record.
Can anyone assist please?

Obituary states 31 May 1916. Could it be a later registration? I suppose I would need the birth cert. to confirm.

I'm pretty sure the parents had 6 weeks after birth to register so it could fit.
Would the birth certificate confirm it for you. Do you have details of her parents?

The obituary states: 'she was born Judy Gamble, in 1916, into a theatrical family: her mother was briefly a Gaiety Girl and her father, J.A. Campbell, as he styled himself,was an actor-dramatist who for several years successfully ran the Theatre Royal in Grantham. This is where Judy made her début aged 19". John A Campbell is my putative father from 1936! it is possible that Judy is my half sister, 20 years apart.

Judy Campbell was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire on 31 May 1916, daughter of John Arthur Campbell and his wife Mary (Fulton), and was educated at St Michael's Convent in East Grinstead, Sussex.[1] Both her parents were on the stage; her father was also the author of several plays under his professional name of J. A. Campbell.

Jax, that all fits as per the obituary I quoted, but I have not been able to find the birth record for Judy Campbell. It looks as if you have quoted from another obituary. Can you confirm with an actual record reference please?
The obit. I used is from the'Independent' of Thurs 10 June 2004.

Vera, the obit, says 'born Judy Gamble and father John A Campbell'.
Her subsequent name is Judy Campbell.

Vera gives the possible MMN Worger.
Are we now suggesting that Judy was born to Mary Alice Gamble who would be age 36 in 1916, Father still John Campbell, or is John Arthur Gamble actually Campbell. Perhaps 'Gamble' was not a good "theatrical"name!
Also where does the statement that Judy was born to the marriage of Mary (Fulton) & John Campbell fit in?
The plot thickens, that is why I was looking for the registration of Judy's actual birth to confirm who her parents were.

That is her birth that Vera gave you

Her father obviously changed his name between 1911 and when she was born in 1916

She was born Mary Campbell and her mothers maiden name was worger

The 1911 census's are for her parents John Arthur Gamble (Campbell) and his wife Mary Alice

I do not know where the name Fulton comes from it was what was quoted on wikipedia

Still looking for Judy Campbell's birth record.

You have her birth record the one that Vera gave you

There is no Judy's or Judiths born at that time that would fit

You can see from the census's they are her parents plus the marriage record I gave you fits....he just changed his name
