	You won't find any birth records anywhere prior to 1837 as that is when registration began. Before that the best you can hope for is baptism records. As for Genes, it is worth having the standard membership so that you can post on the community boards and ask for help, but for searching records Findmypast or Ancestry are better value in my opinion.
