Find Ancestors

I wonder if anyone can help me find my missing ancestor.

Her name was ELIZA ANN HAWES she was born in Lambeth in 1836 to JOHN HAWES (a potter) and ELIZA ANN CORNELL. In 1854 she had a daughter SARAH ANN registered Hawes and in 1858 she married WILLIAM ARNOLD BLURING. William was the son of WILLIAM BLURING a labourer. They both gave their address as China Walk, Lambeth.

After the marriage, the trail goes complete cold, I can find no trace of Eliza, William or Sarah. Any advice would be gratefully received.

A lot of people went to Australia at that time due to the Gold Rush....maybe a bit late for that ?....just a thought. maybe someone with ancestry worldwide could find them

what child, born when and where ... how have you made the connection between yourself and William Bluring and Eliza Hawes ?

how do you know she was born in 1836 she is given as full age on the marriage cert ?

is this her baptism doesnt say when she was born tho

Bluring seems to be a name almost unique to the Hungerford district with a few in the London / Lambeth area

I think the parents William and Elizabeth both born abt 1796 are in the 1841 census in Surrey ... but no sign of William Arnold 1816 ...

Thanks for the great response.

I haven't had a chance to read them all in detail but I in answer to some of your queries I thought I should provide extra info. The ancestor was my wife's great, great grandmother who lived all her married life in Lambeth and died in Lambeth. Her married name was Sarah Venner born in Lambeth c1854, but we could not find a birth for her. A clue was that on the 1881 census living with her was her grandfather John Hoare born in Lambeth c1818 and a Potter. Because we couldn't find Sarah we decided to investigate John and found that he was also certainly John Hawes a Potter born in Lambeth in 1818. From this we found that he had a daughter Eliza Ann, who went on to have a daughter Sarah, born in 1854. All the dates fit

I have Eliza's baptism in 1836 so I don't think that 1821 Eliza Bluring could be her. I did contact one tree owner who I thought had a Lambeth entry on their tree but, I was told they couldn't help me.

My feeling is that the 1816 baptism for William Bluring is correct, so he would have been somewhat older that Eliza, with such an unusual name we were hoping to have more luck tracing him. That is interesting Choccy, if he was an army deserter I suppose that would mean that he would have to keep a low profile.

We do have some additional information about Sarah, but at this stage we are just trying to find out what happened to Willam and Eliza.
