Barry has managed to return to his previous postings as he replied in the thread that the link referred to.
Sorry, Margee, answering on auto-pilot.

And, to repeat what I said there:
If William, 1863, is your great grandfather, what are his parents' names from his birth certificate?

Barry

Barry Report 14 Dec 2011 11:38

I sent following to Margee.
Sorry, My William Pearson also married a Maria in the same period.
Someone told me she was Maria Sargent b 1838 Islington. 1841 shows her living with parents Jacob and Amelia. 1851 shows her as Maria Surgent and her father as Jacob Saryens.
As I do not have exact date of marriage for William or exact birth date of son William I do not know how to ger Certs.
I thought someone may have had further info on who Wiliam did marry.

Ignore what 'someone' told you.........do the research yourself, as far as possible

Or give some factual info on here so that we can look for you

Who is your KNOWN relation?

No guesses.........please.

You obtain certs from the GRO.......on line at

You quote all the info from the index, and pay £9.25 for each cert

Barry Report 10 Jun 2012 18:32

Hi Patchem,
Thanks your previous help.
I have now obtained a birth Cert. dated 20 Nov 1862. Father William -mother Maria (nee Castleman). You said you saw a note in the margin showing birth date as 22 Nov 1862.. Do you think this is the same William. I do not have the birthdates of any of their other children to check if Castleman was their mothers maiden name. Would greatly appreciate any advice which may help.
Thanks and regards
Barry

MarieCeleste Report 10 Jun 2012 20:19

Barry, what is the father's occupation and where were they living when the birth was registered?

That info can then be used to cross reference to the baptism.

On the baptism that Patchem posted they were living 17 Newton Place, William's occupation looks like labourer.

The birthdate written in the margin appears to be 27 Nov 1862.

Barry Report 14 Jun 2012 00:05

MarieCeleste-thanks
The certificate shows father as General Labourer but the address is shown as 17 Lucan Place?

Barry

Barry Report 25 Jun 2012 08:01

When requesting birthcert from GRO I asked for the 27/11/1862. but got 20th.
Could they have moved as baptism was 1/3/1863.
Both mothers Maria
Birth Cert -mother Maria Castleman.
Only thing I can think of is to get birth cert of other children to check mothers maiden name, but only have birth year.
Any ideas how I can check further.
Thanks

Gee

Gee Report 25 Jun 2012 08:36

The birth certificate is dated 20/11/1862.
William Henry Pearson.
Mother- Maria Pearson formerly Castleman.
Father William Pearson-General Labourer.
Address- 17 Lucan Place. Hoxton Old Town.

The baptiism was 1/3/1863 -St Leonards Shoreditch (address 17 Newton Place).

Arthur born 1864/5 and Walter born c1867 are brothers to William.but
1/. Why was William baptised in C of E church yet brothers in Chapel?
2/.Proved Williams mother was Castleman but is this the same Maria, mother of Arthur and Walter.-as ? re 20/11 and 27/11 birth.
3/. Was there another Wiliam baptised in the Chapel?
4/. Is there a way to find mothers maiden name for Arthur and Walter without exact birth date..
Thanks
