Sorry Kevin I don't think this Brooks link is anything to do with my family. It's funny but the names Thomas, John & William all appear in my family tree line but otherwise no other similarities. I'm still researching a relative named Thomas Adolphus Davies Brooks and he emigrated to New Zealand from England in 1854. If you come across any info on this I would be very glad to hear from you. Thanks and good luck!! By the way my father was a William Brooks.

I am trying to trace Thomas BROOKS s/o John Thomas BROOKS He was b c1826 in
England and arrived with his wife and children(?) in New Zealand c 1866 and
then went to Victoria, Australia c1879 where he died 1890. Known children
include Ettie, Willie, Arthur Thomas and Jane Elizabeth (Annie). Arthur
Thomas was born in New Zealand.

His brother William BROOKS and his wife Decimore COSTFORD (with many other
spellings on official documents) arrived in New Zealand 1856 on the "Emma
Colvin" and lived in the Wakefield area. William is perhaps best known for
Tyree's photographs of him and his bullocks

My wife is descended from William and Decimore, but at the present time I am
trying to trace his brother Thomas. (I knew he had been in Australia but it
was only tonight that SKS sent me his death records which showed he had been
in New Zealand

There are no records for transit between the UK mainland and Ireland

To find info about his wife, buy the marriage cert.....it should tell you her father's name

Astrid, who were their parents?

Nearest census to when? Are you trying to track when they might have left England?

Astrid

Astrid Report 23 Jan 2012 20:18

Samuel Hunter Brooks was baptised on the 27th April 1827 in St. Thomas's Church, Portsmouth. He had at least one brother Thomas Adolphus Davies Brooks, don't know anything more but he emigrated to Ahaura New Zealand, Can anyone help regarding either of these two. Can someone please check the nearest Census? Many, many thanks.
