I missed the obvious by not checking for a death

So it is back to Daphne to let us know when she thinks Rose died

SylviaInCanada Report 8 Mar 2012 00:45

I can't find anything else!

so we do have to wait for Daphne to see what she thinks.

GlitterBaby Report 8 Mar 2012 01:16

Oh well that confirms it is the wrong family

Going to leave it for now as my bed is calling to me

Reggie Report 8 Mar 2012 08:16

I have had three PM's

Make of them what you will

Have you any news for me?

Rose born 1882,Bill aprox same decade.
Was a child when they lived in Nazeing, but didnt know any other details. Both dead now, no other relatives can help.

Yes, but its much later in her life I need to find,; possibly Sidney died or they divorced, not even sure it was her who had the baby in 1903She was with Bill then . Last time I saw her was in 1965.She was the in her 80s

Reggie Report 8 Mar 2012 08:18

There is a box below with the title 'Add your reply'

Please use it to respond - in the way that everyone else who posted on this thread has done.

Thank you

Reggie Report 8 Mar 2012 08:31

There isn't a death for her registered in Epping - the district which included Nazeing up to 1974

GlitterBaby Report 8 Mar 2012 14:08

How do you know she was with Bill then - being 1903

The baptism record suggest she had Alice with Sidney Burgess

Do you honestly have no idea what surname she was using in 1950's

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Mar 2012 00:46

Thanks Reggie!

Not that it helps us go any further

I agree with GB, the baptism record indicates that Sidney was the father of the baby Alice in 1903.

Daphne Report 10 Mar 2012 16:43

Thank-you all so far. I have some of the info you have also found, but very confused with the 2nd marriage, and not finding rose in 1911, with or without Alice.I am going to look further but would still be interested if anyone finds anything further.
I only met Rose in 50s and 60s as she lived near where we lived at the time, and as children my brother and sister used to cycle to see them. Her Husband [ partner] was Bill, and they had a son Bill.Has made it difficult as no family members are now left to ask for more detail,so I have no surname for Rose and Bill. The last time I saw her was in 1965,and she would have been about 83. I only started on Genes a few years ago once I retired and wanted to trace my ancestors.
Daphne Preston [Hobbs]

Daphne Report 10 Mar 2012 17:10

I think I may have confused you all.I only met Rose and Bill in 50s and 60s. Rose was older sister of my paternal grandmother, Maud Hobbs [Wheeler] They were part of a large family and as a child I can only remember meeting a few of them at various times. We moved to Chingford, and visited them at Nazeing until 1965, at our fathers funeral. After thatmy brother and sister and I had moved away and lost touch with all but close family.Hence I am searching the sites for info. Will keep watching for any further news from any of you,and will let you know if I find any further clues. I do have their address in Nazeing. Will that be any use,as at the moment i cannot access the electoral lists.
It was 49/51, Pecks Hill, Nazeing.Cheers Daphne

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2012 22:41

pm from Daphne

This is not "my " Rose, sorry but thanks for help so far

so I guess we haven't found her!

Reggie Report 10 Mar 2012 22:48

The ER's for the years in question may be held at the main library for the area.

Daphne Report 11 Mar 2012 16:27

Thanks for info so far everyone. My sister visits Chingford soon; family still there;so she can check the local ER.Once I have a surname [ if Rose married again] I might have some luck.

GlitterBaby Report 11 Mar 2012 16:50

Perhaps if you could say who the parents of Rose Wheeler are and when she was born would help because at the moment this thread is not making much sense.

Daphne Report 11 Mar 2012 17:04

Hi, Parents of Rose were Henry and Mary Wheeler, living in Kensington, London. Rose born in 1882. I thought one of you had found the family earlier in the messages. There were several children in the family, one of which was Maude, who was my paternal grandmother.
