I've found the above chap on the 1891 Canada census and he was married to a Grace - do you still think he's yours?

Sylann - what was the occupation of your John? Have you found his children on any later census.

I'm wondering if someone has just found a death of someone born around the same time and decided to make it fit?

Sylann

Sylann Report 16 Mar 2012 17:51

Hi Don't think that would be him I found the family in Berwick Northumberland 1871 but nothing after that so thinking they emmigrated 1875ish

I found this match on another tree!!! the family seem to be the same so trying to follow it up

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Mar 2012 17:54

Sylann - never, ever, ever believe what is on anyone else's tree!! (Unless they're prepared to show you the documentation they have to back it up).

As I said above, people often force things to fit.

See my question above about his children.

Sylann Report 16 Mar 2012 18:00

Yes that is the one I have 1871 they don't seem to be able to make their minds up Northumberland /Scotland

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 16 Mar 2012 18:00

Sylann, your John was a shoemaker and the one that died in Ontario 1914 was a vicar.

Berwick changed between Scotland and England a few times, I believe.

The Reverend and Grace made a trip in 1909, so must have had a visit home if they were on the 1891 in Canada
